Stylin’ With Paul Pierce and the C’s
This year's Runway 34 fashion show, put on by Saks Fifth Avenue and featuring some of the top models from the runway, benefited Celtics forward Paul Pierce's foundation, The Truth Fund. A portion of the proceeds of this year's event also benefited Junior Achievement of Eastern Massachusetts and the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation.
Pierce was joined by teammates Tony Allen, Marcus Banks, Mark Blount, Ricky Davis (who brought along his new Celtic-in-training), Raef LaFrentz, Michael Stewart, Jiri Welsch and Delonte West. Ex-Celtic Antoine Walker came out to support his former teammate, and former University of Connecticut star and Charlotte Bobcat rookie Emeka Okafor was also in attendance. Celebrities included BET's Free, Survivor's "Boston" Rob Mariano, Stephen Pasquale and Michael Lombardi from the FX drama "Rescue Me" and Fox Sport's Net's Greg Dickerson and "Coach" Willie Maye.
Wearing a custom-designed navy blue suit by Elevee and a mink coat, Pierce strutted his stuff on the runway much to the delight of the crowd. Although none of the other Celtics walked the runway, they did go up and support their teammate during the live auction, when one lucky (and generous) fan bid several thousand dollars for an opportunity to travel on the road with the team. Other live auction items included an invitation to be a guest of Paul's at a Celtics game this season, complete with his autographed shoes and jersey, a custom designed watch by Stacy the Jeweler, and walk-on roles on "Rescue Me."
