Cavaliers 97, Celtics 91
By Marc D'Amico, April 5, 2013

Key Moment

Great players are supposed to change the trajectory of games. Kyrie Irving did that Friday night at TD Garden as his Cavaliers downed the Celtics 97-91.

Irving nailed consecutive 3-pointers in a span of just 79 seconds to wipe out Boston’s five-point advantage and put the Cavs on top by one. Those 3s were the main spark in a 13-1 overall run that put Cleveland on top 68-63.

The Cavaliers never trailed after those 3s by Irving. In fact, their lead never dropped below three points after they were on top 68-63. In the meantime, their lead ballooned to as many as 14 points.

It all started with Irving, and that’s how it’s supposed to be when he’s the only All-Star on the floor.

Key Box Score Line

Tristan Thompson played like a lottery pick Friday night.

Check that - he played like an All-Star.

Thompson dominated the Celtics from tip off to final buzzer. He put together the best game of his young career with a career-best 29 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.

The big man out of Texas was able to accrue those incredible numbers thanks to a stellar shooting night. He made 10 of his 17 field goal attempts and was perfect from the free-throw line, making all nine of his attempts. Additionally, Thompson capitalized on many of his seven offensive rebounds to drive his numbers into career-best territory.

Quote of the Night

I explain to all of our guys, 'You've got Kevin (Garnett) on your team. You've got Paul (Pierce). You have (Rajon) Rondo… and you're Shav. The fouls aren't going to go your way. Doc Rivers on Shavlik Randolph not getting calls
