The Phoenix Suns will select 13th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, it was determined tonight in the 2015 NBA Draft Lottery at the New York Hilton Midtown.
The Suns have used the 13th overall pick three times in club history, including the selection of current starting forward Markieff Morris at 13th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft. The Suns have also used pick No. 13 to draft guards Jay Humphries (1984) and Kendall Marshall (2012).
Many of the Suns’ most successful first-round picks in franchise history have come when drafting 13th or later, including two-time Most Valuable Player Steve Nash at No. 15 in 1996, three-time All-Star Dan Majerle at No. 14 in 1988, and the team’s all-time leading shot blocker Larry Nance at No. 20 in 1981.
Center Alex Len represented the Suns on stage at the lottery. Len was a lottery pick himself as the Suns drafted him with the fifth overall selection of the 2013 NBA Draft.
In addition to the 13th overall pick, the Suns possess their second round pick which will be the 44th overall selection. NBA Draft 2015 will be held on Thursday, June 26, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and televised on ESPN at 4 p.m. (Phoenix time). The Suns will hold draft day activities at numerous locations throughout Phoenix.
