Suns Launch "Shazam with the Suns" Contest

The Phoenix Suns have teamed up with Shazam, one of the world’s most popular apps, to launch a promotional contest that will engage fans both in-arena and those watching Suns games at home. The launch of “Shazam with the Suns” marks the first partnership between an NBA franchise and the music-discovery app.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this first-of-its-kind activation with the NBA,” said Shazam CEO, Rich Riley. “It’s a testament to our goal of creating advertising experiences that inspire brands like the Phoenix Suns to increase fan engagement.”

During six Phoenix Suns games on FOX Sports Arizona this month, fans viewing the broadcast will have the opportunity to Shazam a legendary call by Hall-of-Famer and “Voice of the Suns” Al McCoy for a chance to win Suns tickets. The audio/video segment will be featured during halftime of the Suns games on January 12, 15, 17, 27, 29 and 31. During each television broadcast, the first 50 viewers to authenticate the audio file via the Shazam app will receive a pair of Club Annexus tickets to an upcoming Phoenix Suns home game.

“We are always looking for unique and progressive ways to engage with fans, not just in-arena but in their homes,” said Suns President, Jason Rowley. “To be able to offer our loyal fans that watch the game an opportunity to experience it in person is something we are excited about.”

The Suns will also encourage fans at the Suns’ home games on January 19, 21 and 23 to deploy the Shazam app during the team’s player introduction video, just before the starting lineup is announced. Fans that participate will receive discount offers for merchandise and concessions during the game that evening, and one lucky fan will win a Verrado Drift Bike, courtesy of Local Motors.

“Player intros are always one of the more entertaining aspects of the game-night experience, so this offers yet another great incentive for fans to be in their seats at tip-off,” added Rowley.
