What We Learned From #SunsAtJazz

The Suns' final preseason tuneup was a success, a 105-100 win over the Jazz that saw several improvements following Wednesday's loss to the Clippers.

What can Phoenix take from this game into the regular season? A few notables:

3. Team rebounding can work

The Suns lost the rebounding battle 46-40, but it could have been a more pronounced defeated without the across-the-board effort Phoenix received. Six different players grabbed at least five boards despite none of them playing more than 30 minutes.

Alex Len (six rebounds) will help address the Suns' previous size issues, but they will need this type of team effort on most nights to hold their own on the backboards.

2. D and speed

Phoenix shot an abysmal 7-of-28 from downtown and won anyway. How? They forced 22 Jazz turnovers (11 of them off steals) and scored 20 points on the fast break.

In the preseason, the Suns have proven capable of overcoming one or two subpar aspects of their game with better effort in other areas. That's especially helpful when shooting -- one of the more inconsistent night-to-night factors -- is at a premium.

1. Three-Guard Success

Friday marked the first time Head Coach Jeff Hornacek tried out Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas in a crunch-time lineup. It worked, as the Suns outscored the Jazz by six to help secure the win. The trio combined for 50 points, 11 assists, five steals and just five turnovers.

Hornacek's main concern with that lineup is rebounding, but P.J. Tucker and Markieff Morris held down the fort well enough in this latest addition of small ball. Can it work long-term? The Suns are hoping so.
