Now Hiring: Director, Mercury Business Operations - Phoenix Mercury

Job Purpose: The primary role of this position is to oversee all aspects of Mercury business operations on a day to day basis. The position is responsible for development of strategy and alignment of goals to overall Mercury business plan, oversee and build fan relations, strengthen community outreach programs, maintain operating budget and drive sales performance.

Primary (Essential) Duties

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day management in order to successfully support our mission.
  • Use business experience to help inform strategy and support our service operations, sales, business development, marketing functions, public relations and community relations.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to develop creative strategies to expand the Mercury brand across the Valley and drive new ticket sales and marketing partner opportunities
  • Identify cross-promotional, mutually beneficial opportunities with marketing partners as well as local sports media.
  • Coordinate and assist with the team's involvement in community activities & promotions.
  • Develop year-round opportunities to gain exposure specifically tied to girls basketball in the state of Arizona, including work with the Jr. Mercury and local YMCAs
  • Continually work to improve department processes and procedures, in order to increase the department’s effectiveness and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Mercury business operations.
  • Ability to comfortably and effectively interact with all levels of management, staff, fans, media, vendors and marketing partners
  • Possess strong relationship and business development skills
  • Effective communication both written and oral
  • Ability to flex across priorities and multiple tasks
  • Work well with ambiguity and with limited direction
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to speak and present in front of large audience

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business operations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Sales and/or Customer Relationship management experience preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and some holidays on game days
  • Traditional business hours with occasional evenings and weekends on non-game days
  • Expected to work all game nights
  • Travel as needed with team
