Fans will receive their first public opportunity to catch a glimpse of the 2011-12 Phoenix Suns when the team hosts a “BIG Things are Coming” Open Practice on Saturday, December 17 at US Airways Center. The event will begin at 4 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge.

The Suns are encouraging fans to donate a new toy upon entry to the event, benefiting the families of St. Joseph’s Hospital. While all toys are welcome, those for children age 9 and older are especially needed. Fans who donate will be entered into a raffle to win autographed Suns items and merchandise at the event.

The event will tip-off with entertainment by The Gorilla, Suns Dancers, Verve Sol Patrol and Solar Squad, and will be highlighted by a team scrimmage conducted by head coach, Alvin Gentry beginning at 5 p.m. The open practice will feature returning Suns stars Steve Nash and Grant Hill, along with newcomers Shannon Brown and Sebastian Telfair, and 2011 first-round pick, Markieff Morris.

Immediately following the practice, Suns fans will have their own opportunity to shoot hoops on the big stage. The Suns will open the main court for an open shoot-around from 6 - 8 p.m. Fans of all ages are encouraged to participate.

As a special ‘thank you’ to fans, the Suns “FREE Game on Us” offer returns for anyone who purchases a single-game ticket at the US Airways Center box office during the Open Practice event hours, from 4 – 8 p.m. Fans who purchase a single-game ticket will receive a voucher for an additional ticket to one of a select number of Suns home games this season, redeemable immediately at the box office.
