Both teams sat out their starters sat out much of the second half.
"We’re just trying to mix the guys around so we can see how all of them play with certain groups," Hornacek said. "It’s not clearing anything up for us, really, because all of our guys are playing really well no matter who they play with."
Tim Duncan had 12 points, and Manu Ginobili added 11 points and five assists for San Antonio (1-1). Tony Parker, who spent much of the offseason playing for France's national team, had 11 points in 17 minutes before sitting out the entire second half.
Ginobili was active and healthy after suffering through injuries and an erratic postseason last year. He played 23 minutes, as did Duncan.
A quicker lineup led by Eric Bledsoe allowed Phoenix to close the second half on a 12-5 run. Bledsoe scored all of his seven points in the run.
"Eric's a guy that can really push the ball," Hornacek said. "He's aggressive. He wasn't making his shots, but we told him 'we don't care if you go 0-for-8. Just keep shooting.' Then he hit three in a row and gave us a lift right there."
