Amaré Stoudemire assisted the Gorilla in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new “Suns.com Newsroom” Thursday at US Airways Center. The Suns' All-Star, who was sporting a new "hip hop mohawk," also sat down with Sports 620 KTAR's John Gambadoro and Dave Burns, who were on hand for a live broadcast from inside the Newsroom.

Previously a conference room on the third floor of the Suns’ facility, the Newsroom was built out to house Suns.com’s award-winning staff, which has also been expanded to include three new members. The new-media headquarters, equipped with high definition flat-screen televisions and state-of-the-art computer and video editing systems, will serve as the information hub of the team.

“We have some exciting projects in development for the coming season,” said Suns Vice President of Interactive Services Jeramie McPeek. “The opening of the Suns.com Newsroom will help us take our web site to another level, and is a symbol of our dedication to providing our fans with the most in-depth news and unique content on the Suns available online.”

Projects include the re-launch of the team’s official web site, which is scheduled for October 2007, along with an expansive new social network for Suns fans.

Named the NBA’s Web Site of the Year in January 2007, as voted on by NBA teams, Suns.com has become the primary source of information for Suns fans around the world. Fans from more than 200 countries visited the site this past season, which generated more than 46 million page views.

During the 2007 NBA Playoffs, more than 41,900 hours worth of behind-the-scenes video was viewed on Suns.com. In other words, it would take one fan four years, nine months to watch the entire amount of video that was streamed on Suns.com during the club's six-week postseason run.
