Suns Assign Griffin to Energy

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns assigned rookie forward Taylor Griffin to the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Suns President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Steve Kerr.

The 6-7, 238-pound Griffin will spend his third stint in Iowa after he was originally assigned to the Energy on Dec. 7, starting both games he appeared in and averaging 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals in 37.0 minutes before being recalled Dec. 14. In his second stint in Iowa, which began on Dec. 28, Griffin appeared in 10 games, averaging 8.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in 27.1 minutes. Griffin scored in double figures four times to help lead the Energy to a 6-4 mark.

Griffin was selected by the Suns with the 48th overall pick (second round) of the 2009 NBA Draft and has appeared in eight games this season for Phoenix.

The playoff-bound Suns return to action tonight, hosting the San Antonio Spurs (48-29) at 7 p.m. at US Airways Center. The game can be seen on both ESPN and FOX Sports Arizona and heard on Sports 620 KTAR.
