Steve Nash and Sport Court Team Up for Valley Youth

Posted: Feb. 21, 2007

Suns star Steve Nash, through The Steve Nash Foundation, and Sport Court of Arizona have teamed up to donate a 1600 square foot Sport Court Power Game surface to Valley non-profit organization, Greater Phoenix Youth at Risk.

The court, valued at over $8,500, will be completed and installed by early April. The Foundation and Sport Court of Arizona will also be donating new collegiate hoop systems to various locations, including Shaw Elementary school in Phoenix.

“As a former Phoenix Sun and current business owner, it is gratifying to be involved with someone like Steve Nash, who is community-minded and genuinely wants to help those who are less fortunate,” said Jim Fox, Sport Court President.

In addition, for every court purchased, Sport Court of Arizona will donate $100 to The Steve Nash Foundation, which is dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life.

"Sport Court has been a true example of a community partner for my Foundation. Through this relationship with the Fox family, Phoenix will have a safer space to play, which hopefully grows healthier kids and communities" said Nash.

The partnership comes as part of the mutual mission of each organization to provide the necessary resources to help grow health in kids. This is the second court donation and first in Phoenix as part of the partnership. The first Sport Court was completed in July 2006 at The Steve Nash Foundation’s Charity Classic Community Assist Day in Victoria, Canada.
