Head Coach Lindsey Hunter

(Opening statement)

“I think the biggest disappointment for us tonight was how we didn’t respond when they got physical – when they turned it up, the intensity, we just didn’t respond. It doesn’t matter who you play, if you don’t bring a level of physical-ness and intensity to the game then this is what happens. This is the NBA, everyone is here for a reason. I thought tonight, when they got physical when they started just putting their heads down and driving straight to the rim, we didn’t respond at all the way you would expect us to. I don’t think we played desperate. I don’t think we had a blue collar mentality. It showed in spurts, I thought Kendall came out and gave us a great lift. Other than that we really didn’t have many bright spots other than the fight in the fourth quarter.”

(On the team’s third quarter struggles as of late)

“We have to look deeper into it and see what’s going on because it’s like a trend for us. For a while the thing was closing out quarters for us – that started to be a trend, we couldn’t close out quarters. Now it’s like coming out, we don’t jump back into the game the way you’re supposed to.”

(On Markieff Morris and the rebounding deficit)

“I think the hard part for Markieff tonight was guarding Anderson. It pulled him so far away from the rim and he’s such a great shooter you’ve got to stay out and guard him. We were constantly telling our guards, you guys have to get back in and help Scola and the other bigs rebound. That’s just the way this game was played tonight. I think he did a good job on Anderson. He closed out on him he didn’t allow him to just get a lot of wide open looks. He got a couple in transition but for the most part I think he did a good job on him.”

Luis Scola

(On staying positive)

“It is very tough. There is no reason why to be positive. So how are we going to stay positive? Nobody should be positive. We have to work hard. The way we do it is we realize that we have problems and that we need to fix them. We need to work hard and we need to find a way to fight the last five games or six, seven. Try to win some of those and then start working really hard next year.”

(On playing hard and execution)

“I think it is execution. We just don’t do it very good. We play hard and we still get the same problems. We still lose. I just think it is execution problems. It is not always one problem. You do a few things wrong, everything has two or three things you do wrong. Even something you don’t do wrong usually any given minute you may be doing it wrong. Some other mistake you have and you know you see it much more because you don’t know how you are going to play.”

“It is a nice honor. I am definitely grateful for it. Dan is a good friend of mine. I really respect him.”

(On the importance of the award)

“Dan is a close friend of mine. I really look up to him. He is a great basketball player. For me to win this award, like I said, it is huge. It is a huge honor.”

Head Coach Monty Williams

(On Tonight’s Game)

“I think we did what we needed to do to get a win. I didn’t like our fourth quarter defense but you can expect a run from any team in the NBA. I thought our defense was really good in the third quarter, we were efficient in our offense and our bench gave us a boost and that’s something we haven’t seen in a while. We had to switch up the rotation to come out in the third quarter because we needed smaller guys to hedge the pick and rolls. I thought Ryan did a decent job. A.D. running the floor tonight solves a lot of problems for your offense because it flattens out their defense and you can throw it up to him or he creates options for guys on the wings. Defensively we were a lot better than we had been on this road trip and it was good to get a win so people can stop talking about how many times we’ve lost on the road.”

Anthony Davis

(On Tonight’s Game)

“I’m just taking my shots. Coach Monty and my teammates have faith in me and I’m just concentrating and knocking them down. It’s always tonight to win on the road and anytime you can win on the road it’s big. We’ve got to make sure we keep these wins going in L.A. and Sacramento. It shows that we’ve grown up. Coach Monty tells us that all the time and I’m glad we had that situation. They got on their run and cut it to 6 and we just kept our composure and tried to execute our offense.”

Eric Gordon

(On Tonight’s Game)

“We played pretty good defense and we were scoring pretty well. We had good transition offense. They had a pretty good run in the fourth where they were just out running us and they had more hustle plays but it was good for us to keep our composure, to keep our lead. It’s been a while and it’s tough to look back on that but it’s good to get a win tonight. The Suns play a high pace style of play and they got the guards running everywhere and they got three point shots and they spread the floor really well so it was good to keep our composure on defense.”
