Suns Head Coach Lindsey Hunter

(Opening statement)
“I thought our effort was there tonight. I think our execution wasn’t. I think guys had mental lapses at times on different coverages and it resulted in them scoring especially at certain, crucial times when we had the game manageable to get a little closer. We made timely mistakes on rotations. Just the small things. Part of it is just because those guys haven’t played much together. You know, inexperience plays a part of it, but that is just what we have to work on. We have to get Kendall and Diante and some of the other guys accustomed to doing it in a game setting. That is part of the growth of our young guys.”

(On breakdown of Sacramento scoring runs)
“In the first half we talked about that. Kendall just went on the fritz for a minute. I think he looked just like a rookie in that stretch of the game. It is to be expected. You talk him through it and you teach him. We were tied game and all the sudden we make a couple of passes that really had not had a chance to make it thorough and we turn it over. We give up run outs and other mistakes compound of that and than you are down double digits. I just explained to him, that is what happens in this league. You have to be a game manager as well as all the other things a point guard is called to do. He is learning on the fly and that is what this is about.”

(On Cousins and Thomas)
“Like I said before the game, they have weapons. They can score. I think the catalyst to it is their point guard. Isaiah Thomas does a great job distributing and scoring. He is a handful. He is only 5’9”, but he plays like his is 6’4”. It is tough when you have him in the high pick and roll when you have Haddadi guarding Cousins who can step out and hit 3’s. That is a tough cover for Haddadi and it is not fair to him. It is what it is.”

Suns Guard Kendall Marshall

(On having double digit assists in two straight games)
“Guys are making shots so that helps; but I’m more worried about the end result. We’re 0-2 with me starting so I don’t see it as a success at all. ”

(On their third quarter run)
“We got stops defensively – that was the big thing. Our stops led to easy fast break points. A couple times PJ Tucker got into the passing lanes and got out and got lay-ups, Luis Scola got a throw ahead and I got a lay-up. When you’re getting stops defensively it makes the offense easier.”

Suns Forward Wesley Johnson

(On getting through tough shooting stretches in games)
“The ability to stay confident – I always think I can score, I know I’m a shooter. I always think I’m going to make the next one so I don’t really think about the shots I’ve missed. I always think I’m going to make the next five so I don’t really dwell on a shot I missed.”

Kings Head Coach Keith Smart

(On Tonight’s Game)
“Our guys set a nice tone in the first quarter. DeMarcus played a very good rate and obviously had a big game tonight. I thought he took advantage of some of the things Phoenix was lacking a little bit. I thought his pace of how he attacked the basket. I thought the shooting percentage he had tonight was based a lot on his attacking the rim and I thought instead of settling for a smaller player guarding him I thought he did a good job attacking the rim. And then Isaiah Thomas kept pace from where he was last night. I felt that the team that had the most energy and sustained runs would be able to pull this game out and I thought we had a couple where we got up by 19 and then we got a little happy with the basketball and turned it over. They made a run but I think we settled down and got ourselves going again.”

Kings Center DeMarcus Cousins

(On Tonight’s Game)
“I just feel like I got it going early. My jump shot was falling and with them giving me my jump shot and hitting it, it helped the rest of my game. It was fun. I think we bounced back from our mistakes. When we made mistakes in the game we came back and made a run instead of making more mistakes and continuing to make mistakes. Even though we made mistakes we came back from them and made some pluses.”

Kings Guard Tyreke Evans

(On Tonight’s Game)
“That’s the type of style I think both of us play, that up tempo game. We play the up tempo game and we tend to make mistakes and they came back and capitalized on them a little bit hitting some big shots and some threes, you know that’s how they play. I just think we did a good job of keeping the lead and knowing when we needed to get a bucket and getting one. The beginning of the season they were playing hard and they had a new team and guys kind of moved around so they were hyped up and they had more energy than us. This time around we came back with more energy and played better as a team so we got them back.”
