Suns Head Coach Lindsey Hunter
“That was pretty bad. I do not see one bright spot to take from that game other than it is over. 29 turnovers. Marcin going down. It doesn’t get much worse than it did for us tonight. You know, back to the drawing board. We see how we respond after having some success, having some days off. It is just you come out and there is no energy. There is no focus. That is not much we can say about that game. It was just a total disaster from jump ball to finish.”
(On the impact of the injury of Marcin Gortat)
“It seemed deflated from the jump ball too me. I think Marcin was playing pretty well. I think having him would have been, of course a big help. We cannot look at that as an excuse. Guys want to play. When your number is called you have to go out and perform and that is what we are all called to do. I take the burden myself as their coach and go back and say okay we have to do everything better. We have to prepare better.”
(On the confidence of the team after the 3 game winning streak)
“You know we were because we are a young team. That is your face. You look and you say, ‘wow do we get it?’ And you do not know. This is part of the process. This is part of trying to mature a team to understand what it takes, how hard you have to practice, how hard you have to play, and how focused you have to be. How much do you have to dedicate to this? You cannot be half way and half way out and think it is going to happen for you. You have to make it happen. The only way I know how to do that is to get in the gym and grind it out and every single day come to try and get better. That is the only way I know how to make it work. We will go back to the drawing board and reiterate all of those things.”
Suns Forward Goran Dragic
(On what happened tonight after the three game winning streak)
“They were better in every aspect of the game: rebounding, turnovers, assists. They’ve got a lot of weapons. Our defense was not good. We were late in rotations – they scored easy baskets from there. We didn’t know what to do on offense. Maybe in the first quarter we played ok, but then everybody was holding the ball too much. We didn’t follow directions: three guys knew the play and two guys don’t. That’s it.
(On what the absence of Gortat could mean going forward)
“I mean, a lot. He’s a big presence in the paint, he changes their shots, and the rebounding. I had, in the first quarter, six assists with Gortat and after that zero. So you can see that every time he sets the pick and roll, and he rolls, he sucks the defense in or they stay with shooters and we find the motion. After he got hurt we didn’t have that.
Suns Center Marcin Gortat
(On his Injury)
“I actually stepped on someone’s toe or foot with my heel and that’s why - I don’t know what happened, I just heard a pop. Yeah I’ll be able to play, well I say yeah, but the doctors say no I’m out for a few days - maybe weeks. I definitely heard a pop in my foot and I knew right away it wasn’t an ankle, it was just my arch. Obviously I’ve got a big bruise and pain.
Raptors Head Coach Dwayne Casey
“I thought it was one of our most focused efforts of the year defensively. Forcing 29 turnovers even though we had 20, you know, but we forced 29 and that was big time for us. I thought the second unit came in and set the tone. I wanted to play (Jonas) Valanciunas more, but when [the Suns] went to (Michael) Beasley at the five that kind of took us out of that. Everyone that went into the game had a big time effort, good defensive focus, and I thought they stay to the task. The hardest thing to do in the NBA is play with a lead and I was afraid we were going to relax a little bit and give in but we didn’t. They stuck to the task and did a good job.”
(On Gortat’s Injury)
“He (Marcin Gortat) is their difference maker but again, we’ve been there. It’s the NBA and I feel for him but we have been there before and nobody felt sorry for us and so I hope he’s ok.”
“We want to make sure we stay on a mission. But again it was great to get those young guys minutes – quality minutes – they played the whole second quarter almost so it was quality minutes at that time. I wanted to play them even more but with (Michael) Beasley at the five it was a little much and we kind of went with it but they did a good job.”

(On playing former team)
“I wouldn’t call it personal but you got to go out there and compete. That’s the good thing about playing basketball. Also the timing; The timing of us being on a five game losing streak we were gonna come in and do whatever it took to get the win.”
(On playing former team)
“I loved playing in Phoenix. I loved the city and fans. I learned a lot here and grew as a person.”
