Head Coach Lindsey Hunter

(Opening statement)

“It was a good win for us. We still got a lot of things to correct. I think we just have to stay on an even keel and see it for what it was. We have won a few games. We are finding guys that want to play the right way and want to get out and compete and that is what we have been looking for from the beginning. We are still working on our concepts. Marcus still has to learn some of the things that we do but they were outstanding. They played really well, played really hard. I thought defensively they were good. Wes Johnson is still coming along really well. He did some great things tonight. Jermaine was great. Everyone was good tonight. Collectively we still have a long way to go. There are a lot of things that we still need to clean up but I think that when you look at it overall once we start really understanding what we are trying to get accomplished then we will see where we are.”

(On the physical second half)

“At times things happen like that. It gets chippy. Our guys didn’t back down and as a team you have to protect one another out there on the court and I think that we did that. We can’t let others provoke us to stop playing the game. We are basketball players and we have to be that first. The guys fought through it and kept our composure.”

(On Wes Johnson’s defense)

“I always watch the things that we do defensively and I think Korver is a great catch and shooter off of pin-downs, off of zippers, off of flares so you can never relax. Every time Wes relaxed he burned us and I kept telling him play the entire possession out. You cannot relax on him. At the end I think he really got into him and chased him off of any shots that he had.”

Goran Dragic

(On his fall in the 3rd quarter)

“I just lost control. I went to fast and I tried to bump him and get a foul. I thought he was going to trying to block me. It was just an awkward fall.”

(On Suns current win streak)

“We are feeling great right now. We are playing well defensively and offensively. We are sharing the ball. Wes was huge tonight again. Marcus was too. We have a lot of guys. I do not know how many guys scored more then 10 points? Five or six? It is much easier to win if everybody is involved. Great win for us. We have to go to take the next one. We got a little bit break, four days we don’t play. But still try to correct something especially on defense, our weak side was in some situations really bad. They get some easy baskets. In the end we defended well.”

(On playing after the break)

“I think so. I mean I think the first one was even worse than this one. This one hurts more. It is right on a bone. Like I said we have four days off without a game. So I will have to do treatment to see if I will go.”

Wesley Johnson

(On his defense)

“It is really my length and quickness and my speed. I am really just trying to use my abilities too. To go out there and alter peoples shots and get blocks and steals. I am really just trying to be that spark off the bench.”

Head Coach Larry Drew

(On Tonight’s loss)

“Oh boy this was really – you know, it’s a tough game to swallow. After playing so well in our first three games of this road trip – as good as we played in the first three, we were just as bad tonight. We did not play well from start to finish. The energy was not there from start to finish. We made entirely too many mistakes. I told the guys after the game, I thought we took a step back tonight. We reverted back to some bad habits. What’s mind boggling is the first three games of this road trip: how well we played, how well we shared the ball, how well we executed, defensively how active we’ve been – all those things took a backseat tonight. Give credit where credit is due, Phoenix outplayed us. They outplayed us. I thought they were the aggressor, I thought they were more physical, and we did not respond to that. Although when they did create some separation, we fought our way back in, but we didn’t make the plays that we needed to make. We did not play very well tonight and that’s the bottom line: we did not play very well tonight. Maybe we needed a game like this to kind of snap us back into reality. It’s been good for us these first three games of the road trip where we had been playing very well. Maybe we needed a game like this just to snap us back into reality and now we have two more to go.”

Al Horford

(On what the difference in tonight’s game was)

“It’s disappointing for us especially after having some good momentum, but that team over there, they played hard. We looked tired out there tonight.”

Top

Josh Smith

(On whether tonight was a step-back for the team or just one game)

“One game and you throw it out. We were owed one of these games. You’re going to have games like this, it’s just our ability to be able to bounce back from it. We can’t hang our heads and really dwell on it. We have to look ahead and play a team in the Lakers that is really focused and trying to make playoff push and trying to make the eighth or seventh seed. We have to be able to stay the course and keep playing confident basketball.”
