Head Coach Lindsey Hunter

(Opening statement)

“We made it a little tougher on ourselves, but we will take it. We still have a lot to work on. I think learning how to build on leads and learn how to close quarters. We still just for some reason do not finish the quarters the way we are suppose to. We will keep working on it and I think we did some great things defensively. They posed a lot of problems when they went small with those guards. They just ran pick and rolls in every single direction. Our guys did a good job of fighting over screens, going underneath, changing coverages. We must have changed four or five times throughout the game. Guys executed well. I was proud of our guys to finally get a win at home and get ready for the next one.”

(On Wesley Johnson)

“He was great. He was great on both ends of the floor. I think it is a little different for him because he had to guard a point guard tonight. That is a different feel for him. He did well. He used his legs, had some key steals, and he rebounded the ball really really well. I hope this can continue to catapult him into growing as a player and just really see how good he can be. He has all the tools by far. It is just good to see him contribute the way he did tonight.”

(On Ricky Rubio’s fourth quarter performance)

“He is a clever defender. He really plays angles and baits guys into making passes and he steals them. Our biggest thing was to not overreact to him and make him a finisher. When you have great passers like that the tendency is to overreact, but I just keep preaching to our guys, let him drive. He is driving to draw us and kick it. Make him a finisher. We started doing it at the near end and it kind of worked out for us.”

Goran Dragic

(On the game)

“It feels great; I mean we get a win. We started doing well we were up 17-18 points and in the third or fourth quarter they went to zone and we had some trouble with that. We were missing shots and they were scoring and I think we lost a little bit of confidence. I am really happy that we actually could do well that last play when Marcin hit that layup to put it into overtime.”

(On pick and rolls with Marcin Gortat)

“We are talking together. We sat down and I told him what I wanted him to do. It’s a different situation right now then when he had Steve Nash and Channing on the floor. Channing spreads the floor and makes a lot of space in the middle of the floor. Right now we don’t have that but I told him that I am going to look for him and if he is open I will pass it to him. The last couple of games we have been doing that.”

Wesley Johnson

(On playing against J.J. Barea)

“I remember in practice just going straight to the block. But I knew that the way that they were going to guard me was to foul right away but it worked out. It felt good to play against them.”

(On playing against Minnesota)

“I just felt good being out there playing. It just so happened to be them that I played against but I was just happy getting in minutes and being out there.”

(on>

“I think the bench was the difference. I fell that the whole season when the bench plays well and is able to keep the lead. I think that is when we play the best basketball.”

Rick Adelman

(On the game)

“We lost the game in the second quarter. We didn’t’ play in the second quarter and they opened up the lead. We’ve got to play the whole 48 minutes. We can’t have let downs. We have to come out and play the way we’re capable of. We didn’t in the first half and it cost us. We missed a lot of shots. Thirty four percent from the floor, I don’t know what we were from the free throw line. You’ve got to make plays in this league and we’re going to have to learn how to make plays. It’s a simple as that. (On last shot) I thought he got fouled on the way to the basket but then he got the shot and you’ve got to finish it somehow.”

Derrick Williams

(On the loss)

"“We started off slow again. We’re not making shots like we know we can but we did a good job in the fourth quarter. We’re down 11 with a few minutes left and that’s the thing we’ve been doing all year, never giving up. At the same time it has to change now. We can’t keep coming back and lose by one or two points. I thought we did a good job of fighting back though.”

(On three-pointer in OT)

“Everybody is like just take it and shoot it. That’s what we have to do. We can’t second guess ourselves especially if you’re out there on the court and we’re down a few points. You want to take that shot with confidence. Alexi passed the ball and I took a good shot and it went in but at the same time we still lost so all of that really doesn’t matter.”
