Head Coach Lindsey Hunter

(Opening statement)

“I think our effort was much, much better. We turned the ball over too much. 20 turnovers is just far, far too many when you’re playing against a team of that caliber. We just have to be smarter and just continue to get better execution wise on both ends of the floor. I think that you play so hard and you make one mistake against those guys and they make you pay – that’s what they do. We’ll continue to chip away at getting better, chip away at solidifying our defensive flaws as well as our offensive flaws.”

(On the bench and the second quarter)

“Our guys – I just didn’t see the energy that was needed to sustain the level of play. You’ve got to come in and be energetic and defensively be active. That’s an area that we will continue to challenge those guys to do. You can’t come in and the energy level goes down, you have to amp it up five or six more tiers. That’s another part of our game that we’ll continue to cultivate.”

(On what he likes about Marcus Morris)

“His overall approach is what I really like. He plays with an edge and that’s- especially playing against teams like that, that’s what you need. You’ve got to feel like you belong out there. I think sometimes we get put on our heels and we’ve got to work through that. Regardless to what the situation is you have to feel like you belong.”

Jared Dudley

(On not being able to get into an offensive rhythm)

“We have not been in a good offensive rhythm in a while, probably since Portland. It could be execution. It could be just not making simple plays. When it comes to offensively, just to run to the backpost right now, I do not know if it is because our defense is effecting our offense or offense effecting our defense, but we need to work on both. If you can’t score 90 points it is going to be tough for you to win this league.”

(On team effort)

“NBA players should have effort. Every now and then some times you come out flat you have back-to-backs that’s understandable, but I do not think effort has been our problem this year. I think it is execution, knowing our roles, playing the right way. It is tough. We are still trying to figure it out. It might take all year. We might not figure it out. Our goal was to work every day in practice and keep the positive, but right now it feels like we are taking a couple steps backwards.”

(On second quarter Spurs run)

“I think it was like 35-15 or 20 that quarter. Anytime you are playing a champion-type caliber team that knows how to play, knows how to win we came out the first quarter great. I think we even had the lead at the end of the first. They just keep coming at you and when you take one thing away, they have second and third options. They move the ball and are very unselfish. That is the goal and that is the end result. You want to play like them similar in how they move the ball and share it.”

Goran Dragic

(On his performance)

“I am not satisfied with my game. I shot the ball really bad, but the game is over so you cannot change that. All I can do is prepare myself for the next one.”

Head Coach Gregg Popovich

(On 2nd quarter 25-4 run)

“It’s got nothing to do with effort. The ball went into the basket. Sometimes it goes in and sometimes it doesn’t and during that period of time we shot the ball well. Just because the ball doesn’t go in the hole doesn’t mean teams don’t have effort. I’m sure Phoenix was trying just as hard as we were. We made shots.”

(End of road trip)

“It was a great trip. We were 7 and 2 on a 9 game road trip, you have to be happy with that. I thought the guys kept good focus on the road here in the last game. You know they all want to go home and I thought they did a fine job.”

Tim Duncan

(On 25-4 run)

“Nothing really changed. We just tried to stay consistent with what we were doing. We were able to start stringing some stops together and that was the difference in the game. We were using our motion and moving the ball and things go as they go. We’re going to stay consistent as much as we can and hopefully at some points we get runs like that and breaks like that.”

(End of road trip)

“It’ll be great to get back home. We’ve been away way too long especially for me. I’ve been gone the entire month; home for 24 hours, gone for the All-Star break, back for 12 hours and then back on the road again. Just good to be home, have some home games for a while and it’ll be a great month for us to get re acclimated and hopefully rack up some home wins.”

Patty Mills

(On end of road trip)

“There’s always going to be some mental lapse from wanting to get home but this is what makes this team so professional and how we carry ourselves on and off the court throughout the season. It’s pretty impressive just as a player on the team watching how we carry ourselves. Last game of the road trip I think it was important to get this one.”
