(On His First Win as a Head Coach)

“That was really exciting. I’m more excited for the guys then I am anything else. They’ve worked so hard for me these past couple of days. This is a long, long journey and this is just the beginning for all of us.”

(On Michael Beasley’s performance in the fourth quarter)

“Absolutely tremendous. That’s the type of fire we have been looking for out of him. It wasn’t only offensively but defensively he was great as well. He challenged the shot, rebounded the basketball and moved his feet. He did all of the things that we knew he was capable of, we saw all of that tonight. This is just one game for him to build on and gain his confidence. He can just grow from there.”

(On Presenting the Game Ball to Hunter)

“We gave the ball to our coach because it was his first NBA win. We decided to present him the ball and later we will all sign the ball. Hopefully he is going to put that in his house as a trophy and it’ll be something that he’s going to remember.”

(On What Changed in the Fourth Quarter)

“We defended. We played together and for the first time in the game we actually executed our plays. Michael Beasley was tremendous in the 4th quarter. He took the game over by himself. He was unstoppable and gave us three possessions straight where he scored and he definitely helped us to win the game.”

(On Head Coach Lindsey Hunter’s First Game)

“It was really nice to let him get his first win as a coach. We need wins, we need to play better. This was a nice win overall but we need to keep going. It’s a lot of work to do and sometimes we have tough games but we have to start getting better everyday.”

(On the Change Happening with the Team)

“It’s painful and you don’t want this to happen. The way we’re playing isn’t our coach’s fault, it’s everybody’s fault. But that’s the way it works and we need to find a way to make this coach successful. We couldn’t do it with our other coach.”

(On the Loss)

“Very disappointing loss for our basketball team here – 25 turnovers, 27 points we gave on those turnovers and a lot of missed free throws – concentration game. It’s unfortunate for our team to lose this game. Don’t take anything away from Phoenix, they made plays when they had to. But obviously we hurt ourselves by having that many turnovers and getting to the free throw line and making free throws.”

(On Trying to Find New Rotations)

“Well that’s always a tough one trying to find the right combination that can stop a guy. You need the right combination that can stop a guy defensively and can create the right spacing on the floor. We kind of went through the same thing in the first half but it worked itself out a little bit. It was a tough cover tonight. We hurt ourselves with the 25 turnovers, but it had nothing to do with the combination on the floor.”

(On What Changed in the Fourth Quarter)

“They just made some good switches. They made changes at halftime and it worked on us – we tried. Michael Beasley came out and he performed well – we couldn’t stop him. They went on a big run in that stretch.”

(On the Feeling After That Many Turnovers)

“Sickening – what’d we have, 25 and they had 27 points on them or something? You can’t win basketball games like that, especially with a team that’s shooting that well. They came down and were scoring on every turnover and then scoring every time we scored so it was just hard to get a stop when the cut was that thick.”

(On Trying to Overcome the Turnovers)

When asked how hard it was to overcome their season-high turnovers tonight: “I think we did a good job overcoming it in the first half. Second half, they got hot and started making shots. I don’t know how many we had in the second half.”

(On the Fourth Quarter)

“We just had turnovers, missed shots. We weren’t getting any transition buckets because they were scoring a lot.”
