|Head Coach Alvin Gentry|
(On the Loss)
"Obviously it’s a disappointing loss; you always want to win the opening game at home. There were a lot of good things, a lot average things, a lot of things we’re going to have to get better at. I thought the effort was good but we just did not shoot the ball well at all."
(On Developing Chemistry)
"We looked like a team that had nine new players tonight, I really feel that we’re going to become a good team. I really feel that we’re going to have to play together, and we’re going to have to learn each other. And, as a coach, I have to learn the guys."
(On His Performance and the Loss)
"It’s still a loss. We fought, and we played good inside. For a couple of minutes our concentration was bad, but we had our good looks – especially in the fourth quarter, we had four or five open shots. Overall, we didn’t shoot the ball well tonight, but it’s our first game so hopefully we are going to improve ourselves."
(On the Team's Comeback)
"We have to play like this from the beginning of the game throughout the whole game. We are really solid on defense and it’s much easier for us. We are making easy baskets, we are running. We just try to learn as much as possible from this game, and the next game is Friday against Detroit."
(On Execution at the End)
"We had good looks. They had good looks too and they missed. Myself, I had multiple chances to knock it down to tie, take the lead. Those are shots that we’ll make throughout the season but obviously it hurts now, losing that game, because it’s just one or two possessions."
(On Getting the Bigs Touches)
"For our big men we definitely had spacing, you know we gave it to Scola at the end and he got the bucket over Lee. We have to trust them a little bit more especially when our shots aren’t going."
|Head Coach Mark Jackson|
(On Grinding Out a Win)
"We continue to grind it out, to compete, to execute. We made some mistakes, we missed shots but if you would have told me coming in that David Lee and Steph Curry would go 4-for-30, I’d say we’d be in trouble. D. Lee didn’t have it offensively took two charges, made two plays to Carl Landry. Steph didn’t have it offensively, was out of sync, seven rebounds, Klay Thompson, eight rebounds. Just a great overall effort."
(On Getting Back on the Court)
"It’s been a long time coming for me; it’s been 9 months since I’ve played basketball competitively. I felt great, body felt great. I felt like after the first three minutes when my wind was down a little bit, I felt great. Early on in the game it was kind of tough. Once I pushed through that and got my second wind I felt great. Obviously they limited my minutes tonight so I wasn’t too happy about it but as long as we get the win man."
(On Getting the Win)
"I think it was just defense. We made a run on the offensive end but since we’ve been in training camp, coach Jackson and his staff have put an emphasis on defense and getting stops and that’s what we try to do. My teammates did a good job of finding me in positions to make buckets, so guys are going to have nights like that where shots don’t fall but that’s where you have a good team like we do, a deep team."
