 | Head Coach Alvin Gentry
(On the slow start)
"We got off to a slow start, mainly because we turned the ball over. We have to do a better job of managing the basketball. As we talked about everyday in practice, the one thing we don’t have a defense for is if you’re going to turn the ball over in live turnovers – and by that I mean an opportunity to give the other team the run out."
(On offensive/defensive rotations)
"Normally, I would probably have Wesley Johnson in there. I just thought we needed a defensive presence, which is why I stuck PJ in there. I thought he gave us a great defensive lead. The whole second unit, I thought, did a good job and gave us a lift defensively." |

 | Jared Dudley
(On the slow start)
"We got to play a lot more aggressive, a lot more focused, we have to come out with a lot more energy. We can’t play too cool. It’s not a ‘too cool’ team. Some it was their defense and some of it was us. The bench came in and did what it’s supposed to do: get the energy and guys back."
(On preseason growth)
"Yeah, I thought defensively we were a lot more active, especially with the second unit coming in. We killed them in rebounds and they still shot under 40 percent, I believe. Offensively we clicked on all cylinders." |

 | Michael Beasley
(On chemistry with Dudley)
"That’s every night. We work together in practice, so our chemistry is really coming along, it’s a process. I mean, he shot the ball well tonight." |

 | Head Coach Keith Smart
(On tonight's game)
"I wanted to give the group that started the chance to get off to a great start. I thought they did that, played very, very well. So I’m comfortable with the group that I started along with another guy coming out of that rotation. So I’m set with that, but I wanted to see some guys play some extended minutes and just let them know that it’s not as easy as you think it is." |

 | Thomas Robinson
(On the loss)
"We lost. That’s all that matters to me. I got a good sweat. It’s preseason. The players off our bench, other than our starters, could give us good minutes but other than that, it’s just preseason." |

 | DeMarcus Cousins
(On development and starting lineup)
"I’m happy with our development, but we obviously have a long way to go. I feel like we can get a lot better. I really want to continue to get better with each game. You need chemistry with all your teammates. That’s the coach’s decision, and I believe he’s just looking for a lineup to go with. Whoever is out there in the starting lineup, you have to go to battle." |
