Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

"I think it was a typical preseason game. There were some good things and bad things that went on this game. Some of the guys you get excited about and some of them you like to see do more. I do like how we’re playing hard and competing like crazy this preseason. I thought Goran did a great job tonight controlling the game and I also like what Luis is doing too. I thought Michael Beasley did well at certain spots, but we’re also trying to develop some consistency with him. I think the big thing with us is the rebounding part and we did a much better job tonight. I was happy with the effort, but of course we have room for improvement."

(Are you seeing any leaders stepping up during this preseason?)
"Well I think we have some silent guys, like Goran doing a good job at putting people in the right spot. Jared is also doing a great job at leading and I think it’s something that we’re still searching for. I think more leaders will emerge as the season goes on."

(Are you seeing you some chemistry with Goran, Jared, and Luis out there?)
"The most impressive thing to me is we’re doing some of the stuff Goran and Luis has done in Houston and that has been really good for us. Goran is just a real pro and I’m glad I have the opportunity to coach him this season."

(How do you think Diante Garrett looked tonight with his extended time?)
"I do like him and I think he has a great feel for the game and we’ll give him more minutes in Tulsa. Overall he has a great feel for the game and I think he’s a kid that plays hard. All he really needs is more experience and that will come."

Suns Guard Jared Dudley

(On how you like playing with Dragic and Scola)
"Anytime you have a high basketball IQ like Goran and Scola do, those guys just kind of feed off each other. The more games you play the more comfortable you get. I know how he likes to pass the ball, I know where he likes the ball. And Goran, obviously playing with him before in Phoenix, he’s just so much more mature. He’s kind of slowed down, before he was one speed. We definitely have good chemistry going on. Defensively we have to get a little better on how we are going to do with the rotations but I thought overall we played well offensively. Good things, from the first game in Sacramento we have definitely improved."

(What are you seeing Goran doing now that maybe he didn’t do as a teammate before)
"Before off a miss he would always want to get the ball and go a hundred miles an hour for a layup. He’s now on the pick and roll he’s looking for that wing guy for the jump shot. He’s knows when to attack, he’s just gotten better. I think that the more that he plays in this system, a lot of it we have catered towards that Houston style, you know at the elbow where everyone gets involved. I love it because you know who’s going to shoot the ball. Everybody knows it’s his team and he runs the show so we are just feeding off him."

Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle

(On tonight’s defensive struggles)
"Our team defense was poor. When you factor the turnovers into that, early in the game, it’s a recipe for disaster. We have some things to clean up, and we have some time to do it. The first quarter score was a misleading score. The guys that were killing us got out of the game and we made a run with their second unit guys. We just have to get better."

(On the increase in turnovers tonight)
"It was a mixture of poor recognition and bad decisions. We have to keep the game as simple as possible. We have to play with high-level force, and if we do that we will be a solid team. But it wasn’t where it needs to be tonight."

(On the defensive issues)
"Last game we gave up 15 transition points in the first half and responded in the second half with a much better performance. But your good efforts can’t just be in response to getting knocked back on your heels. It’s not just the starters, though. Everyone has to play better."

Mavericks Guard Delonte West

"We’re obviously not where we want to be but we definitely don’t take moral victories here in Dallas. There are a lot of positives that we can take from tonight and preseason thus far. We’ve got a long way to go before the regular season, but the rookies are developing quickly. There’s a lot going on. Dirk’s not here, our bigs trying to get accumulated and the new guys, but you can see the flashes that we have shown."

(Twenty-one turnovers for you guys tonight. How do you get that corrected?)
"Stop doing it. We’re all professionals and it has a little bit do with it being preseason not taking games as seriously as a playoff game, but that’s all coming and getting closer to the season, locking in and getting ready."

(What do you like about Jae Crowder?)
"His tempo, he’s definitely NBA ready and all our rookies our highly skilled and highly talented. Jae Crowder right now is kind of figuring out the tempo, the change of pace and just taking his time and making quick moves and not going fast if that makes sense."

(You guys had a 15-0 run in the second but couldn’t sustain that into the second half)
"Well it’s not like we’re out of shape but it takes energy to play at a high level, a winning level and you have to play with a lot of energy and give everything you got."
