Alvin Gentry

(On the game)

"We were able to fight and get back in it, but we just have to do a better job of understanding what happens in rotations. We can’t let Kevin Love catch the ball and shoot nine threes without ever putting it down. That’s a little bit disappointing. Pekovic really just took control of the game early and from there we were chasing guys off threes and chasing off screens. It’s been a while since we’ve had a team shoot 56 percent, I don’t even know if it happened this year. If you score 124 points you expect to win."

(On final stretch)

"We have to step to the line and make the free throws. Robin played solid and that’s what’s going to happen sometime. We can’t always depend on the exact rotation we have. Marcin came back in, he’s got to be able to play in foul trouble and we just didn’t quite get it done. We got a little separation a couple of times but we couldn’t maintain."

Marcin Gortat

(On Minnesota shooting in the 4th quarter)

"They have the best power forward in the league. I mean Kevin Love is just a tremendous player and we can’t let him do all of these things on the floor. We have to make adjustments when he starts hitting threes and starts scoring and we didn’t do that. That is one of the reasons why we lost the game."

(On Minnesota’s bench)

"Well they are definitely a talented team. They have a lot of talented kids, are very athletic, and play with a lot of energy. I am 100% sure they came back here; they remember their last loss here. I guess it was their third game in a row last time. This time they came back fresh and they wanted to beat us. That’s it."

Jared Dudley

(On Minnesota’s play in the 4th quarter)

"They played well the whole game. They really shot the ball well and got bench production. The bigs played well. I don’t think anyone on their team played poorly or shot the ball poorly. We just did a poor job defensively obviously to say the least. But even with that, our offense kept us in the game and still gave us a chance at the end to win the game."

(On what kept the Suns off balance on defense)

"I think the pick-and-roll with Love (Kevin) and Pekovic (Nikola) and how we were at one point having the wings try and rotate over to Love (Kevin) and the bigs. He just got hot and you have to hand it to him. He had a hand in his face, catch and shoot; sometimes he was open on the rebounds and the 50-50 balls. You would see the balls come up, he would hit it back out and get an extra possession. They played well enough to beat us today and we have to go back to the drawing board and come back on Wednesday and beat Utah."

Minnesota Head Coach Rick Adelman

(On the game)

"That’s just a terrific win for our team starting this road trip. We’ve had a few disappointments the last few days but our guys came out and played hard. Both teams were just shooting the heck out of the ball and we finally got them to miss a couple at the end and ended up winning the game."

(On what decided the game)

"We shot the ball; we have to have people shoot the ball. The other thing we did was we really moved it. We had 15 assists in the first half when they came out to double team Kevin (Love) and we were trying to change things up and our guys moved the ball. If they play together and make the right play we’ll be okay. That really helps when you have guys off the bench give you that kind of lift."

Kevin Love

(On his first half v. second half)

"In the first half I was out of rhythm, missing really easy shots, I missed a dunk, I didn’t’ have my legs. It just seemed like everything was going wrong for me. Luckily my team mates were able to find me in the second half and I got into a rhythm and shots were falling so I just felt good."

(On execution at the end of the game)

"That was something we’ve been working on this whole season. We’ve been able to win close games and especially at the beginning of a road trip like this, this is big for us. We feel like we got the first one out of the way we can be at ease going on to the road and play with a lot of confidence."

Derrick Williams

(On bench play)

"I’m just trying to help this team, help with bench. We’ve got to play defense and put up some points too. We just do what we do every time we’re out there."

(On filling in for Rubio’s absence)

"Without Ricky, he’s one of our best playmakers. It’s going to be hard but it’s going to be up to the bench and try to make up a little bit of that as well because he doesn’t score all the time but he makes plays for other people and those plays aren’t going to be there because he’s not playing so we’ve to step up, we’re hoping to knock down shots, play some defense and get some stops."
