Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

(Opening statement)

“That one felt good. We beat a really good team that is probably playing as well as anyone in the league right now. Once again I guess the big thing for me that makes me the happiest is I think we are doing it on the defensive end. Our offense has been OK but I think most of the things that are happening and coming up offensively is because of what we are doing defensively. (Grant) guards Rudy and he goes 7 for 20 and he was playing at a real high level. I also thought we did a good job on (Marc) Gasol . He is a really smart player and Marcin (Gortat) did a good job on him and Robin did a really good job on him. Our bench gave us some good minutes. It was a good team win.”

(On team chemistry)

“It’s been really good to see how everything has come together a bit and the guys are really coming together. Channing was cheering as loudly as anyone on the bench. Sebastian has done that year-round. It’s good to see the chemistry is kind of improving. It just seems to be coming together and the guys seem to be believing in each other and holding each other accountable and playing extremely hard.”

Suns Center Marcin Gortat

(On home win streak)

“We’ve definitely started to play better basketball. We have a lot of support from the bench right now. Every game someone’s coming in and helping us a lot. Today was definitely Robin (Lopez) who came in and did a tremendous job. Obviously Hakim (Warrick) brought a lot of energy and execution and offense also. If we’re going to have support like that from the bench we’re definitely going to have a better chance to win some games.”

(On playoffs)

“The first and most important thing is trying to get to the playoffs. We gotta do whatever it takes to get to the playoffs. If we have to win another ten games we gotta focus and that will be our plan. Like I said, we have to play good basketball all the way to the end and hopefully in the playoffs we have the chance to get a couple wins.”

Suns Guard Steve Nash

(On overcoming double-digit deficits)

“I feel like we’re adjusting as the game goes on and finding ways to get ourselves going and usually someone gives us a lift. JD (Jared Dudley) I thought was great and gave us a lift and everyone pitched in. We’re definitely feeling more confident.”

(On a sense of urgency)

“If we have a bad week we could be out of this so we just have to stick with it and keep playing well and keep it going.”

Lionel Hollins

“We started off with a real good rhythm but we weren’t playing our style and our pace and our tempo and no matter how well we we’re playing offensively they were scoring. When we stopped scoring they got the lead and we had to play from behind the rest of the game. We gave up 17 offensive rebounds and we did not get to the free throw line tonight. When you’ve got the greatest point guard in the game today playing, penetrating and creating and you can shoot, you’ll get open shots and if you make them then you’ll look really good.”

Rudy Gay

“They started hitting shots, they got out on the fast break and basically just scored of our mistakes; we made a lot of them so they had a lot of chances to score. When we’re up and attacking like that on the defensive end we’re better on the offensive end. But we didn’t have a good defensive night, not sure what happened tonight. (On end of game shooting) In a perfect world we want all those shots to go in but it shouldn’t have come down to that. That’s just how it is, basketball isn’t like that. The ball doesn’t always go in when you’re down, you have to keep fighting from behind and you’ve got to establish yourself.”

Mike Conley

“They started making shots in that second quarter and they started getting into their flow. I think we played at their pace a little bit too much in the second quarter and in the second half and they were able to control the tempo and beat us down the court. We’re a defensive team and we play scrappy and try to get onto the loose balls and get into transition and when we’re playing our game we’re a good team but after a while they started taking care of the ball and guys were making wide open shots and I think we gambled a few times and left a couple of guys open and knocked down some big shots.”
