Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

(Opening statement)

“It was a really good win after last night when we played so well and weren’t able to get over the hump. Thought our guys did a really good job and once again and you look at Grant and the job that he does on Dirk then we switch him on to Vince Carter and he ends up shooting about 8 for 21. He ends up with 18 points on 21 shots. Once again I thought we did a good job defensively and did a good job rebounding the basketball. We didn’t give away too many offensive rebounds. We just couldn’t close it out but we had a couple of plays and chances to knock it down. At the end of the day it came down to one stop and we were able to do that.”

(On 3rd quarter)

“We got the pace of the game up where we really wanted it. Once again we came up with stops which is really important to run off misses as opposed to taking the ball and running off makes. We had the game up at the tempo where we wanted it and we were able to score. The second did an outstanding job. My hats off to Sebastian who played well. Robin did a really good job for us posting up there. Shannon Brown came in and did well.”

Suns Guard Jared Dudley

(On bouncing back after last night’s loss)

“This is definitely big for us. We’ve struggled against this more than any other team, especially at home. They got us really good last time and blowing that 16 point lead against OKC, we wanted to come back home and get the win.”

(On why Dallas is so tough)

“They are so versatile. I mean they can score in so many ways. Lamar (Odom) comes in, Vince (Carter) got it going, and JT (Jason Terry) hurts us, and Kidd (Jason) was hitting wide open shots. They have a lot of guys that can make plays, are smart, and know the game. So, they will always be tough as long as they have those guys.”

Suns Forward Hakim Warrick

(On changing the game with energy)

“I just tried to come in and be a game changer. You always have to be ready no matter what when your number is called. I was able to go in and get to the line and get some easy buckets.”

(On how you stay ready)

“No matter what. You know that it is a long season. Whether it is foul trouble or injuries, you just always have to be ready no matter what.”

(On tonight’s win after last night’s loss)

“It feels good man. It was a tough tough loss last night. I know we didn’t beat them last year and I they have beat us a couple times this year. It’s been a long time since we have beaten them, so it’s nice to get a win against them.”

Rick Carlisle

“The last three minutes killed us because we lost the lead and they went into the fourth with momentum and a two or three point lead. We just didn’t recover, simple as that. We tried; we got into a position at the end of the game to tie. Roddy (Beaubois) had a really good look at It, I liked the way Vince was playing, Vince had a game going so those are the guys that we had in there at the end. We wanted a open shot and if we had gotten an open three that would have been great and a chance to win the game but Roddy got a good look at a two. You’re not always going to get your star players a shot at the end because they attract so much attention and that’s the reason Roddy got so open. “

Lamar Odom

“We didn’t do what we needed to do to protect the lead. We didn’t adjust on the fly like we needed to. We had an 8, 10 point lead and the next thing I know I looked up and it was 72-72. (On last shot) It went in and out; you can’t get better than that. You can’t get any closer than that. We did what we needed to do, it just missed. It happens. You just have to live with that.”

Vince Carter

“They started hitting shots. They got going in transition, started hitting open threes, it was everything. This was just a mental breakdown by our team. It’s unfortunate, we played really well enough to control the game and to finish the game and we just couldn’t get it done. We’re trying to go out there and play for our lives. We just have to buckle down and focus in and there are a lot of games left to be played and we just need to fine tune ourselves and get the job done.”
