Head Coach Alvin Gentry

The game was lost in the first ten minutes of the game. We got an opportunity to do something good and we come out like that is just ridiculous. It’s unfair to the fans in the stands. The way we approached the game sucked. What we do is exactly what I said in the first timeout. We dig ourselves a hole then we have to play so hard to get back it’s a perfect storm. The difference in the game was what happened in the first ten minutes in the game. I am disgusted with the way we played and I’m disgusted with the fact that we got a chance to end the break on something upbeat and positive and instead we just walk through the first ten minutes of the game and that cost us the game.

We just need to be more focused to come out and start the games. We can’t just cruise at the beginning. We have to establish how we are going to play and be aggressive and we can’t dig ourselves holes; and that’s the biggest thing. We worked too hard in that second half. Guys came off the bench tonight and gave us great energy, but we just can’t do that. Take your hat off to Golden State, but we just dug ourselves too deep in the first half. You look at yourself and how you can do things better. In the first half, again, I just let things come to me instead of being aggressive and attacking. I have to do a better job of that. Usually, I do a pretty good job of staying aggressive, but tonight they did a good job early taking looks away. I just need to stay more aggressive. I can only speak for myself. I need to be better defensively and I have to be better on weak side help, talking and energy. It’s on all of us. We are all here to live and everybody here wants to win and make the playoffs. I know we keep saying that we want to make the playoffs, but we can’t be losing at home, especially when they have guys like Stephon (Curry) out. We have to do a better job when we come back from this break.

It’s unfortunate. We can’t have those dry spells, and defensively we were bad. I can’t quite put my finger on why we played bad in the first quarter. They jumped out on us. Monte (Ellis) was aggressive David (Lee) was aggressive. It wasn’t just one thing. I think they had 40 points, so there were numerous things. Even with that, we got back in the game and battled our way back. We even tied it at one point. Monte (Ellis) who is a big time player, made a big time shot. We had a chance to tie or win it with Channing (Frye) and came up a little big short. But we can’t have that big of a separation at the beginning.

Warriors Head Coach Mark Jackson

I feel like we executed on both sides of the basketball when it matters most. And if I had to design a win, I would have designed it this way. It was much better for our future to grind out a win. I like the fact that they are a team that is going to compete, they got back into the game, they took control of the game. But we buckled and were disciplined enough on both sides of the basketball to come out of here with a win. It was a great victory, absolutely great victory. And Dominic McGuire, nine rebounds in limited minutes, six offensive rebounds, has a big time defensive board, does a great job defending. Just a total team effort and Monta (Ellis) with a big shot down the stretch.

They are a good home team and they made a run on us. We had some stretches we didn’t play as well as we should have in the second half. And the most important thing is defensively and offensively, we made some plays down the stretch capped by Monta’s great shot there at the end and we’re happy we were able to get that one, especially before a couple days off.

We played hard together as a team. I mean, my teammates, I give them full credit – catching the ball when I was passing it, setting great screens for me, getting me open shots and making big shots down the stretch, and getting defensive stops on the other end.
