Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

“Good win, but we weren’t very good defensively. Obviously, we gave up 65 points in the first half and they shot 62 percent. We got beat off the dribble; we got beat on post ups; we got beat on flash cuts—so we didn’t guard very good at all the first half. I thought we did a much better job the second half. Although Grant (Hill) guarded ( Michael) Beasley, Beasley made a lot of tough shots—shots that were very much contested. It’s a win, we’ll take it. Now we’ve got a chance to get to 40 wins. ”

(On shooting from three)
“Channing (Frye) shot the ball well. JD (Jared Dudley) shot the ball well. We did a good job of getting them the ball and they knocked in some three-point shots which we very much needed to get back in the game. We didn’t anticipate that we would have to score 135 to win.”

Suns guard Jared Dudley

“We hit timely shots, big shots. Steve got into the teeth of the defense. Channing hit a lot of big shots. We didn’t really execute the defensive game-plan but we pulled it out and it took big shots to do it.”

(On the defense)
“They are a good shooting team. I thought that our hedges weren’t very good. I thought Ridnour was getting to the middle to easily. I thought that it was hard to guard them one-on-one especially with Beasley getting inside. I think they got offensive rebounds and kick outs. They had more energy in the first half. They made their shots. Beasley hit tough shots in the fourth quarter. We had to out score them and we did.”

(On Channing’s record)
“Even though you are wide open it is hard to hit that many threes, when it comes to the NBA, if you hit that many threes it is impressive. I’m glad that he hit them, we needed all of them, especially tonight. He played a huge game for us.”

Suns forward Channing Frye

“It was good to come back home and see the family and be in a comfortable environment. It rejuvenated me. It was an opportunity to come out and play ball and we just took advantage of it and played aggressive. I think there were some things that I didn’t do right. There were some things that I didn’t take advantage off but I just wanted to be aggressive. Tonight I’m just happy the ball went in. My teammates did a good job finding me. ”

(On the defense)
“They were just picking us apart. We weren’t being aggressive defensively or talking. We could be a solid defensive team if we just talk. We got to talk and communicate and just play hard in a smart way. ”

Timberwolves Head Coach Kurt Rambis

“I thought our guys did a really good job of moving the basketball, playing unselfishly for the most part throughout the ball game. We had spurts of playing good defense, but we had lapses where we allowed them to run pick-and-roll and we couldn’t get out quick enough to their outside shooters to contest their threes. We had chances to win the ball game; missed free throws, a lost opportunity if we would have got a rebound we would have closed out the ball game. So we had chances and I liked the way our guys battled and fought throughout the ball game.”

Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley

“Those guys were just happening. Jared Dudley played a great game. Channing Frye did what he do – just knock down big shots. When you crowd a guy like Steve Nash, it’s hard to get out to shooters and protect the roll and then protect him. They all knocked down big shots. They killed us with everything.”

(On missing the free throw at the end of regulation)
“It hurts, especially for me. I could have won the game with a free throw; I missed a free throw and it went to overtime and that was it so it hurts. It’s going to haunt me at night, but that’s how it goes.”

Timberwolves forwrad Anthony Tolliver

“Same old, same old. It’s what we’ve been doing all seasons. It’s just really tough. We had some really good stretches this game, did some really good things, but we just couldn’t finish it.”

(On Phoenix’s three-point shooting)
“Thirty-seven made threes in two games. That’s incredible. We were really shrinking in, trying to take away the paint for these teams and they’re making us pay. You can’t really control that. (We were) following the game plan and trying to make them beat us from the outside and that’s what they did.”
