Head Coach Alvin Gentry

“It’s a win. I thought we had some good moments, but once again that word consistency comes about. We just can’t seem to take it for the whole 48 minutes. I know there are going to be peaks and valleys, but we can’t have Death Valley.”

(On Grant Hill’s defense)

“Once again, I keep saying it; Grant Hill’s defense on Monta Ellis was superb. I still say he should be on the All-Defensive team. I’ll keep arguing that. Night in and night out, the guy he guards very seldom gets his average….Grant was great, defensively he did a really great job and he came up with 17 points.”

(On Channing Frye)

“I thought he shot the ball real well. He shot it feeling like all of them were going to go in. He shot with a lot of confidence. I’m not worried about it; I think he’ll knock down the ones he missed.”

(On the second half)

“Finally, we started to play better defense and were more aggressive offensively. Still, we have to learn how to close games. Golden State is a really dangerous team. They know how to come back. I’m just glad we won this game. Our team looks better now after Steve and Channing came back. My game is easier now because Channing is standing on the three-point line and opening more things for me.”

(On the win)

“It’s good to win. We had a tough week and you sort of forget what the feeling of winning is like and how to get a win, so, we came out with a sense of urgency and got the win. Now we have to go to LA and take care of business on Sunday.”

(On his health)

“I feel great. My body feels good. You don’t always play good but I certainly feel good. I just want to continue to work. Whatever Alvin and the coaching staff ask of me I will try and go out and do it. Hopefully we can go out and keep it going on Sunday”

Warriors Head Coach Keith Smart

“I give my team credit because that is the one thing we have shown pretty much all year; that we will compete all the way through. We may not come up with the rebound that we may need or possession; or a guy hits a big shot with one second on the clock or may get a foul. But they have shown that they will compete no matter what. We’ve had several games where we’ve been down by 20 or more points and have always competitively got ourselves back in the game, so I’m proud of them, how they function in that fashion and that’s a process that you know you have that; so your team has that in them. Now as we continue to get better and the group continues to get better, then we add different things here and there with our basketball team, but the one thing that’s a staple for us so far has been that we have really competed and no matter what the score is they will fight to get themselves back in the game. ”

(On the second half)

“We never quit. I think the bench came in and gave us some great minutes, got some defensive stops, got the ball moving in our direction a little faster and Dorell (Wright) and Al Thornton came in and got some good offensive possessions for us. Defensively, we were a little better; we just didn’t have enough to get over the top.”

“They were just putting pressure on guys, getting into the paint and guys were just finding me. It was nothing really to it. Same thing I’ve been doing all year. I just caught a little fire. I’ve been a little aggressive going to the basket, getting to the free throw line. I was a little frustrated in the first half, especially come back out on the court and seeing that put-back at the end of the first half didn’t count, so I was as little upset about that. So I just wanted to go out there, play hard, bring our team back; I was out there with the second unit, we were getting stops and flying.”
