Head Coach Alvin Gentry

(Opening statement)

“If you look at the points in the paint, which was 66, and if you look at their turnovers on points, 32—I mean that’s almost 100 of their points. You will have no chance to beat this team if you have those kinds of stats against them. We just didn’t do a very good job of containing their dribble penetration, as I said. And once they got inside, they just picked us apart with layup, after dunk, after layup. So, I’m disappointed but you know, we got to move on.”

(On Denver after the trade)

“I think Ty Lawson, has really done a great job of running their team. I think that’s one of the reasons that they felt like maybe they could give up Chauncey Billups. They’ve been real pleased with the way he’s (Lawson) played. You know when they play him and (Raymond) Felton together, they create a little havoc in the backcourt and do a good job. And Nene is probably having the best year that he’s had. So they have a lot of players. You know, even without Carmelo (Anthony) they have a lot of players. ”

Marcin Gortat

(On the game)

“Well, I think everything went wrong. I think they are a really physical team and we didn’t show up today to play. We were not ready from the first minute, they jumped on us really quick and they built a lead right there in the beginning and later we were trying to catch up with them – very, very stupid turnovers – and that’s how you lose the game.”

(On the team’s mistakes)

“I really hope so. I really hope this is only one game. The good thing about this team is that we know where we made our mistakes and next game everybody’s going to play better and we’re going to bring more energy. So, I really hope so, it’s only going to be one game. ”

Vince Carter

(On the team’s energy)

“We were still in the game at half time, 10-point game. I think our team looked tired as a whole. We got a lot of injuries right now, a lot of guys banged up. It’s not an excuse, but at the same time we have to throw this one out the window and we got to win the rest of them, plain and simple.”

(On the loss)

“It’s not that easy. Your mentality has to be the game is over, come Sunday for our next game. As of right now, we’re not happy with the performance because we are playing for so much and we’ve just got to bounce back, got to go back to the drawing board. You have to get this one back.”

Nuggets Head Coach George Karl

“Are we an offensive team or a defensive team? That’s what we talked about in there. What’d you do better; Offense or defense? I don’t know. They both were pretty good. I probably think tonight we were more dominating defensively. The pick and roll defense was…well, they’re always going to find shots but I thought our offense was created by our defensive actions a lot. There were a lot of turnovers in the game, a lot of good plays. We got our speed and quickness into the game offensively.”

Ty Lawson

“We had a lot of motivation going into this game. We haven’t won here in seven years. We were trying to make sure we got the win. We pressured them and we played really good. We play D, We play really good D. We’ve got a lot of different styles we can play. He (Karl) said he hasn’t won here since he was at Milwaukee so it was big for coach. Now he can rest easy when he comes to Phoenix.”

Nene

“It was good. We came in focused for this game. It was a long time. Phoenix is a tough game at their home and we did our homework and had success tonight. We’re just tougher. Everybody helped everybody. Everybody played defense and tried to help the next man. Our bench did a great job in the game. The history, it was a long time since the last win here, so we played tough and we won.”
