Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

“It’s a good win for us. That team is playing really, really well. And Frank’s (Vogel) done a great job with them. You can say whatever you want, but they’ve been so competitive in every game and they were 9-4 until they dropped this game right here which could have gone anyway obviously. The guys seem to be playing real loose, extremely hard and seem to be enjoying themselves. So I think you’ve got to give a lot of credit to Frank and what he’s done with these guys since he’s taken over. I thought we just kind of hung in there. We went through a tough stretch in the fourth quarter where we just couldn’t get a basket. Great shots, just couldn’t get a basket. A.J. (Price) came in and did a great job for them. When you evaluate players, he wasn’t a three point shooter, he was 2-25 so we decided to go under him and he makes four of them. So that’s the price you pay sometimes for just looking at scout reports. So you have to give him credit because he stepped up and made the shots. It was a good win for us against a real quality team. They’re playing as well as anyone."

Suns forward Channing Frye

(On wanting to take the final shot)
"You know to be honest I always want it. Especially after making a bone-head play like I did. Josh is my guy, but I can give him credit for that gimme that I gave him. Whatever is drawn up, whether it’s for Grant or Steve or whoever, whatever is going to help us win the game I’m all for it. If it’s for me and they take me out of the play, we can go to the next option. The first time it was drawn up for me but they played it well. It was going to be tough to come off a curl with Josh trailing me like he was. (On the game winner) You’re always taught not to foul in that situation. There was enough room to get it off and it went in. I was tired. I was like you know God if you can just let me make this shot, I’ve never asked for anything like that before and what do you know, he gives me a game winner.”

Suns guard Steve Nash

“It was a great win. We were able to just hang in there at the end and get it to overtime. Channing (Frye) made a big shot then to erase all ills. We were looking for Channing off a little flare and he got it. But he switched late, and he was able to pump fake and still get off a pretty good look. It wasn’t an easy shot but he got a decent look and made it. Tonight he made some big threes. We felt good that he’d be the guy to get open in that situation. He made some big shots, especially the last one."

Suns forward Grant Hill

“Every game from here on out is important. That’s what we’ve been emphasizing since the All-Star break. We’ve come and responded and had a sense of urgency. We’ve been unselfish and defended and we’re playing our best basketball now. We just have to continue.

"Last two or three weeks, I’ve kind of been focusing on defense. I had some interesting assignments. I actually talked to my dad last night. He said ‘you have to be more aggressive offensively.’ The thing is, we’re going to score enough points…Tonight, I tried to get going and the shots were falling. I haven’t taken 20-some shots in a while.”

Pacers Head Coach Frank Vogel

“A very tough loss. The first half our transition defense and pick and roll defense weren’t good enough. We really played a good second half particularly in the fourth quarter. Channing Frye hit a great shot. It was well defended. They are hard to guard. They’re not fourth in the league in scoring for nothing. (On the last shot in regulation) We had a couple options we didn’t get to. (On the 24 second violations) We had some bad possessions, no question about it. We’ve got to do a better job of reading the situations we’re in. (On A.J. Price) He could be a starter in this league. I’m never surprised when he gives us a lift and I’ll stay with a guy when he’s hot.”

Pacers guard AJ Price

“We trailed, worked ourselves back into it and still didn’t get it done. My job is to come in, give energy and today was to make Nash (Steve) work hard on both ends of the floor. He’s a great player. We’ve got to do a better job of getting started in the first quarter and not digging ourselves a hole.”

Pacers center Greg Foster

“We’ve got to figure out a way to play better in all of our first quarters. We got out worked on the boards and on defense and in generally overall. They played pretty good. They’re a pretty good ball team. This is the NBA, we’ve got to bounce back and play better Tuesday against Golden State.”

Pacers forward Josh McRoberts

“We’ve got to get better defensively and work a little harder. They hurt us on both ends of the floor. They do a lot of things, little things very well. There are no moral victories. We have to tuck this under, get going, start doing some things better that we were doing and keep our energy level up and just play better overall.”
