Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

“We didn’t get any stops. That’s a tough thing to do—you don’t have any chance of coming back if you’re exchanging baskets. The best you can do is exchange baskets, if they’re scoring every time. What we’ve done lately is that we’ve been able to come up with stops, and that takes some of the pressure off the offense. We didn’t do a very good job tonight of guarding the ball. ”

(On moving forward)
“It’s one of those losses that you are going to look back at and it’s going to hurt. As a said, we’re trying to catch teams that all win—Portland wins again tonight. We’re trying to catch anybody—any of eight teams we are trying to catch—and right now Portland is in that eight spot. That’s the best we can hope for. But we’ve got to leap frog a couple of other teams to even think about getting in to the eight spot. So it’s a home loss—that doesn’t help matters either—but it is what it is. Now, we got 30 games left and we got to try and find a way to win a ton of them.”

Suns center Marcin Gortat

“It was a really tough game. They just kept scoring and kept scoring and we couldn’t stop them. And when we did stop them, we couldn’t execute. So, I would say it’s obviously a really tough loss which cost us a lot. We have been playing so well that we can say that we were going to trip. We have to live with it and get better defensively, I think our offense is great and we don’t have to change anything. We have to become a tougher team and we definitely need to play for 48 minutes.”

Suns forward Channing Frye

“I think that tonight was just one of those nights that we really needed it and things just didn’t go our way. I think it was a tough game and they played hard and I think they just played their game. We knew they were going to attack the rim and create opportunities for their big guys. We just need to do a better job of getting the ball.”

Kings Head Coach Paul Westphal

“Who can figure this game out? The first half we were hanging in and just couldn’t make shots. Carl Landry and Donte Greene really gave us a big lift off the bench in the second half and Sam Dalembert was able to stay in the game and avoid fouls and it was just something we needed, we needed in the worst way. We’ve been coming so close against good teams and getting turned away in the fourth quarter. Tonight we pushed through and beat a good team on the road, especially with all the turmoil, or whatever you want to call it, with DeMarcus. This was quite a pulling together of our team. It was great to see.”

King guard Donte Greene

“It felt good, we just worked. What we’ve been working in the gym, it’s about time we brought it out on the court. Coach has been having us run and drilling us, you know, run, run, run. Execute and look at both sides of the floor and guys were just making shots.”

Kings center Samuel Dalembert

“We know that in the first half, against a good team like that, they’re going to get some calls. I wasn’t really worried about the fouls too much; I was worried about my team and being able to keep ourselves in the game. When I came back I could punctuate the defense. We did a pretty good job despite all the mistakes we made in the first half. When we came back, we just pushed for it. Steve Nash is a great player, everybody knows that. I kind of figured out what he was trying to do. He was trying to get me in so he could give the bounce pass and I was trying to hesitate and make him make a quicker decision sooner instead of picking us apart. That was working for a while. We started trapping him a bit and making him give up the ball and every possession we did have we had to make something good happen, That’s the key.”
