Head Coach Alvin Gentry

(On the rotation)

“I was pleased with the way everyone played; I was pleased with the way the bench played. Obviously, Hakim (Warrick) came in and gave us a huge lift. You know, that’s the way it’s going to be. I am not sure if we are ever going to have like a set rotation or anything like that with this group. I think it’s going to be somebody every night that might step up.”

(On Earl Barron’s start)

“He just missed a couple close-end shots. But at the end of the day though guys, he helps us win games—(Barron) had seven points and eight rebounds. Just the activity that he has around the rim and around the basket is really good. I still say that those are shots that he’ll finish. Those are shots that he’ll make and he’ll finish. He is just not getting them in—he got a couple of them blocked. But what he does for us out there and the activity that he gives us, I am happy with (his play).”

Hakim Warrick

(On maintaining the team’s lead in the second half)

“We’re doing a much better job on the defensive end and just not giving too many second-chance points and keeping teams off the line and try to limit their transition buckets as well.”

(On the team’s depth)

“We knew coming in this was a deep team and we got a lot of guys that can go out there and play big for us. And we knew different nights, different players, people step up; and when you got a deep team like that, a team that everyone goes together and their unselfish, you’ll have nights when some guys are struggling and other guys will step up.”

Jason Richardson

(On the team’s unselfishness)

“We’re a very unselfish team and guys pass the ball to the guys for open shots and we always share the ball. Also, when you have guys going like that it makes everybody dangerous. It makes the whole team dangerous.”

(On Hakim Warrick’s performance)

“(Hakim Warrick) was huge for us tonight. He kept on rolling down there in the paint and they didn’t have an answer for him, so he actually got some open shots for myself, Channing (Frye), Jared (Dudley), Grant (Hill) by just rolling down there, Steve finding him and just opening up the floor for everybody.”

Wizards Head Coach Flip Saunders

(On Tonight’s Game)

“It was the third and the end of the second. I mean that’s why he (Nash) is who he is. Nash just killed us in the high pick and roll. The one thing they do is they have a team that’s built with perimeter shooters and Warrick came in, set screens and rolled to the basket and we did a poor job of handling that at the point of attack. When you make a mistake against a good player and a good point guard like Steve he’s going to make you pay and that’s what he did.”

John Wall

(On Tonight’s Game) “In the first half they did a great job in finding the pocket pass and Hakim Warrick scoring play after play. I think in the second half we did a better job of helping out and they just started making shots, making threes. When you come down to a team like this who’s always going to put pressure on you and you’re coming down and turning the ball over and not getting good shots and they come down and make their threes, their lead can expand pretty quick. That’s what they did and they kept it going.”

(On Nash) “He a guard that keeps his dribble alive and he’s moving the ball and dribbling and his guys keep moving around so he finds a way to find them or making a tough shot.”

Gilbert Arenas

(On Tonight’s Game)”We were in it at halftime, down by three and we just came out sluggish in the second half and from there, we were going uphill. This is one of those teams that you can’t let the league get away from you. They put the starters back in and from there they did what they did, like at the beginning of the third. They hit shots, he (Nash) found his people and that’s why he is who he is.”

(On Nash) “They put the right personnel around him. Ever since he’s been here, they put the players with him to make him play like he does. Especially at this age, he’s looking like he hasn’t slowed down any. As long as he’s got shooters around him and players that can dunk the ball from almost half court, he’s always going to be up there with the assists leaders.”
