Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

“We did a really good job of being active. I thought it was a really good team win—I thought Earl Clark came in there and did a good job, he had a couple of really good defensive stops and to me, it was probably as good of a win as we’ve had all year, considering the circumstances. The style of basketball and the quality of basketball that [the Pacers] play, you know, they got a win at Miami, they got a win at the Lakers, they’ve been playing well. It was a great win for us.”

(On defense in the second half)
“I thought our close outs were a little better. We closed out and we also were a little more aggressive in our switches, trying to take the easy pin down shots away. We did a good job with that, and then we didn’t give up second shots…I thought we did a great job of forcing turnovers tonight. You know, 25 turnovers, 26 points. When we do that then we get to run out and we get in transition.”

(On Channing Frye)
“When we can space the floor and Channing shoots the ball like that, it brings the big guys out from the basket…Channing did a great job. He shot the ball well, and he did a good job defensively. When he plays like that it creates avenues of driving and spacing becomes much better.”

Suns center Channing Frye

(On difference between first and second half )
“We’re just getting used to our new defensive scheme, but I feel like that really ignited us in the second half and gave us early, easy shots and stuff happens. We got hot and we just tried to get stops and I think we’re a really good team. That’s an offense we’ll probably never see again, it’s a good working offense because for us it’s just about trying to get better and trying to get stops.”

(On the team’s offense)

“It’s kind of tough. You just got to kind of pick your poison. I think we have the right spacing; it allows everybody to just do what they do. You saw Grant (Hill), at the end of the game, kind of close it out for us, (Jared Dudley) was rolling to the basket once or twice and guys just come in and give us great minutes and I just kind of do what my job is and that’s just space the floor, make some shots, do some stuff and block some things.”

Suns guard Jason Richardson

(On the defensive effort in the second half)
“We just came out and we defended more. They hit some shots and made a lot of threes in the first half and the second half we just kept on battling them and got in their face, and made them turn the ball over a little bit and we had a good defensive half in the second half.”
