Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

“This is as about as tough as it gets. I thought we did a good job defensively, but for some reason a team that shot 41% found way to beat us. We just couldn’t come up with that one play at the end to put the game away. We played hard and had an opportunity to win, but you have to give the Hawks credit for earning the win. Al Horford played a really good game for them tonight. I thought he was a key factor in them getting back into the game.”

(On Jamal Crawford’s shot)
“That’s what Crawford does. He’s a guy that makes a lot of shots. He’s the fourth leading scorer in the fourth quarter in the NBA, so when you think about it, guys like Kobe (Bryant), Lebron (James) and Tim Duncan are the only players ahead of him in that stat. He’s a big time player who makes big time shots. I thought he played well, and my hats off to him. This is just a really tough loss to swallow.”

Suns center Channing Frye

“It’s a tough loss when you try to do everything right, and the ball just doesn’t go your way. I’ve played with Jamal before, and he’s always been good at getting to the line and making big shots. He’s a player who really knows how to get into a rhythm. I’ve seen him make big shots before, so I know he’s capable of doing that. We couldn’t have played him better on that last shot. My hats off to him. It was just a tough loss.”

Suns forward Grant Hill

“What can I say? The guy hit a big shot at a crucial time. There’s not much you can do in that situation, when you know you’re playing the best that you can. It’s a tough loss for us, because we know we played well tonight, and we know that we kept them on their toes for most of the game. Every loss hurts, but this one a little bit more because of how it happens. We just have to take this loss and get ourselves prepared for the next game. If we to compete and play hard like this every night, more than likely we will win. We just came up on the short end of the stick tonight.”

Hawks Head Coach Mike Woodson

“It’s a great team effort. Everything had to go right when you’re down like that, down six, down four with less than 30 seconds on the clock. I called timeout at 40 seconds, you’re just trying to score within 10 seconds and get the ball back. We milked the last 30 seconds as best as you can milk it in terms of fouling when we needed to foul, I was able to have my last 20 (second time-out) and Jamal hits a great shot.” (On Jamal Crawford’s shot:)
“It was either Jamal or Joe. Bibby asked me and I said if Jamal’s open, give it to him. I knew that they were going to play Joe, Joe shot out to the corner and he had two guys going at him. Jamal hit a great shot.”

(On Crawford’s rebound of the missed free throw)
“Everything has to go right in that situation. Smoove was trying to make the free throw, I think when they boxed out, their guys fell, and the ball just dropped right to Jamal and he laid it in. So that was huge, it gave us a chance to set our defense and foul. We fouled Stoudemire, and he missed one of the two. We were able to bring it home with the big three.”

Heat guard Jamal Crawford

“My teammates have a lot of confidence in me. It feels good to get the win. I knew we would go for the win. We were either going to win or lose with that shot, and it felt good right from the start. I just wanted to create some speed and get him backing up a little bit until I was in my comfort zone. I knew I was going to pull up the whole time.

“They probably thought we were going to go for a two. Usually you want to go for a two at home and for a win on the road, but I said, ‘We’re going to win here.’”

(On his rebound of the missed free throw): “It was a funny bounce. I think Stoudemire kind of grabbed it and went after it, and they both almost knocked it out-of-bounds. I went to grab it, and thought, ‘we’re down three,’ but I’m going to try to get a quick two anyway, and then we can foul.”

Hawks center Al Horford

“That was great. It was a great feeling. We played well enough to win the game, and it’s not over until it’s over. I’m now a believer in that. It’s easy to doubt in that situation but we stayed positive. In the time-out, Jamal said, ‘I want the ball,’ and he took it to them.”

(In the second half)
“We just wanted to stay aggressive on them and make them shoot over us. I think we missed a lot of easy shots around the rim. But once we got settled down, we did a pretty good job.”
