Suns Head Coach Head Coach Alvin Gentry

(On the difference in halves)
“It was a good win for us. We just struggled the first half. We got great shots and I thought Channing Frye got some great shots, but we just couldn’t knock them down. I was a little disappointed because our defense was just so wide open and they were just driving everything to the basket. I thought we did a much better job in the second half. The tempo of the game had to change and I thought we did a pretty good job changing the tempo of the game. It had to be a game where it was going to be 115 or 120 points. I thought we did a good job changing the tempo and then we started to make shots. If you’re going to be a really good team, you have to have a defense and we kept trying guys. We finally got Leandro Barbosa and Jared Dudley in there and had kind of a good combination and that’s what we finished with. That’s what makes our team so good is that the guys from the bench were playing instead of the guys who usually play. Steve Nash, I don’t know what to say about the guy. I love the fact that everybody thinks he’s getting older and a step slower. We should all be so lucky as players to get older and be a step slower and still do what he does. I think Jason Richardson has found his niche on our team. He wasn’t with us in training camp last year, but I think he knows that when he gets going for us we will find a way to get him the ball.”

(On the Sixers’ 60% shooting in the first half)
“The Sixers had so many easy baskets in the paint. They just kept driving the ball to the paint and then when they didn’t make the lay-ups. We fouled them and put them on the line. I thought we did a little bit of a better job in the second half making them shoot some perimeter shots. We also did a good job on the boards.”

Suns Guard Steve Nash

“It was a great trip for us and it’s a great start to the season. We weren’t really sure what to expect from this team out of the gates. We were disappointed last year obviously and we want to avenge that. We want to a build a really nice chemistry and a great working environment and play together and play hard at the very least. If that’s good enough to get us into the playoffs, great.” (On winning road games)
“It’s important for us to win road games. We’re the top team in the Western conference and we have 17 of our first 26 games on the road. It could be over for us if we can’t win on the road. It’s important for us to win some road games so we can stay in the playoff picture.”

Sixers Head Coach Eddie Jordan

“We played with a lot of passion and energy. Coming from last night’s game that was the first thing we wanted to see. We play a team that even when they get down they are smarter and they have more weapons. That being said, if we could have knocked down some open shots maybe we could have controlled the game a little more and maybe we would be on the other side. You need to really keep scoring pace with this team and when you get your chances you need to knock them down. We needed to be really sharp with our pick and roll defense and our transition defense. When a guy like (Jared) Dudley makes three’s on you and Steve Nash is running the show, it is a heck of a thing to hold onto a lead when you can’t score. It is difficult to take the lead and win the game if you allow them to get shots down.”

(On defending Steve Nash)
“There are 29 other teams asking the same thing for a long time. (Amar’e) Stoudemire and (Steve) Nash remind me a lot of Stockton and Malone. I thought we took away the paint and that is first. You can’t allow them to get dunks and lay-ups. I thought they got some of that in transition and they got some of it from the pick and roll. They did not dominate the game with pick and roll - they kicked it out and made three’s. Jason Richardson kept the scoring pace in the first half and (Jared) Dudley did it in the second half.”

(On the Sixers’ play with 2:30 left)
“Things happen so fast. I know certainly we did not get back. I think our guys are trying to get offensive rebounds and really trying to get something in the paint. We did not have floor balance obviously to get back in transition. It was so fast - I looked up and there was Jason Richardson again.”

Sixers Forward Andre Iguodala

“They continued to make a lot of three’s. They made the tough shots and made the open ones. When the three ball is going for them, they are really tough to beat, and they had it going tonight.”

(On getting to the foul line)
“It depends on how the game is going. I think we did a good job attacking the rim. We continued to attack in the second half, but we have to do a better job. I didn’t get to the line tonight, so I guess I have to run into people a bit harder.”

(On matching the Suns’ run-and-gun style)
“We have the capabilities of matching up with that style since we played it last season. I think we did a good job of sustaining that and they made the tough shots.”

(On looking for positives)
“It is a loss. That’s about it. We played better tonight than we have in the last three games. We lost the game, but we should have had it."
