Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry

"We played hard and did a good job getting back in the game. We always felt that we could get back in. We shot the ball so badly in the first half we thought that we could make a run. I thought that we were playing too much half court at the start and we tried to pick up the pace of the game which worked to our advantage. We did everything that we had to do except win the game. We did a much better job at keeping them off the offense boards and did a much better job in transition at slowing them down. We just didn’t make the plays to get us over the hump. You have to give them credit and regroup and move on. We don’t have a lot of time to think about it and worry about it.”

(On the play of Mehmet Okur and Deron Williams)
“They were good and it didn’t surprise me. It’s not like it’s a shock. Both of those guys are very good players. Mehmet made a tough shot with a guy right in his face and Deron made two isolation plays but he’s capable of making them anyway. They did a good job and they made the plays when they had to make them to win the game.”

Suns guard Steve Nash

“It’s tough. We didn’t shoot the ball well, but we found a way to get a lead late and we had a tough turnover and then we had a shot to win we missed. You know, we just couldn’t do it. It’s disappointing.”

(On the poor shooting)
“I think we just missed shots, to be honest. We had some good looks and we just missed them and sometimes it happens that way.

“It’s just one of those nights (my shot) felt okay, but they just weren’t going in. It happens sometimes. It’s one of those nights you got to fight and find a way to stick around and we did that, but we just didn’t make the plays down the stretch when we really needed them.”

(On their defense in the second half)
“I think we were just more active. I think there was a stretch there in the first half that we just didn’t play very hard or determined and we realized that’s why we were down so we just had to pick it up.”

Suns center Shaquille O'Neal

“It was tough. We shot 30-something percent and the reserves came in and [Jared Dudley] brought us back. We had ample opportunities to win, we just fell a little short…. It’s just one of those games for us. In the first half we missed a lot of layups, a lot of chippies, but we hung in there and fought back.”

Jazz Head Coach Jerry Sloan

“That was one that just about got away from us. Anytime you’re playing against a team that’s got the players they have, Nash and Shaq and guys like that that have a lot of experience playing in this league, you’ve got to stay after it. We had a nice lead and then we just quit competing. You can’t afford to do that. We walked around in our offense and didn’t get anything and turned the ball over. Fortunately Andrei made a four-point play to help kind of hold us in the ball game and I thought D-Will had a very good overtime game.”

Jazz guard Deron Williams

(On what happened in the 2nd Half Collapse)
“I don’t know. We just couldn’t get anything going for some reason. We were turning the ball over and taking some bad shots. We are very fortunate to get a win tonight.”

(On the team’s play in overtime)
“It was like we had a new life. It was a new start, a fresh start . . . and we got a victory. We’ll take it, a win’s a win.”

Jazz forward Carlos Boozer

“We held our composure and were able to play down the stretch of the game and won a big game for us.”

(On giving up a 21-point lead)
“That’s (giving up the 21-point lead) the bad thing about it. The good thing about it is that we ended up winning the game. Obviously we didn’t want it to be that close, but at the same time I have to take my hat off to my teammates. We did a hell of a job in winning the game that we could have lost.”

Jazz center Mehmet Okur

“There are no easy games right now. For some reason, I don’t know what happened, we just came out there kind of flat second half. They came back and they made some tough shots. We couldn’t execute on the offensive end. D-Will, he made tough shots, and at the overtime he executed a huge shot for us. It was a tough game, but we got the ‘W.’”

(On the his start to the game)
“That’s what I’m looking for every night (a ‘huge’ start). I want to get myself going. Try to postup and get to the free throw line, offensive rebounds, put-backs… that’s what I’m looking for night in, night out. I felt good.”
