“I’m very pleased about the win. I think our guys played with a lot of heart, a lot of passion and some guys really stepped up big for us tonight. Amar’e was unbelievable tonight – 22 (points) and 20 (rebounds) – with 11 offensive rebounds. I told him that was the kind of energy and focus we need from him. Shaq was great – we had great balance when he was on the floor, being productive out there and really helping us. The tempo was good and we got a big lift from our bench – Boris did a good job, Matt did a great job making some timely threes for us and Barbosa did a great job with just getting out in the open court and making some big shots for us. Great game to win, obviously we needed it after the last four games. The second half we were just a lot more aggressive, got to the free throw line a lot and really worked the boards. We gave them a little bit of that home treatment as far as the way they did it to us back in their place.”

“We talked a lot about that at halftime. Early on in that first half, the things that hurt us were their offensive rebounds and their points off our turnovers, so we did a much better job in the second half of narrowing that down. For us, that could be seven or eight extra possessions for us. We’ve been shooting at a very high percentage – so we’d love to have those extra possessions.”

“Down the stretch we didn’t do a good job of closing out that quarter. We had a chance to make shots and they didn’t go down. Just from a mental standpoint, to close out a half, when you get those easy opportunities they just have to go down because so many times when they don’t, the other team comes down and hits a three or an and-one and it just kind of kills you. But our guys came out and responded well and it was great to see – we just have to build on it.”

“We definitely wanted this game tonight on our home court. We came out with a lot of intensity and it was a big game for both of us. We are pretty much neck and neck in the standings and we came out and got this one.”

At halftime we were pretty much there. I had my focus on getting rebounds all night telling Mr. Cartwright that I was trying to get the rebounds and looking at my negativities and improving on them. When I do that it helps better the team.”
