Suns Head Coach Terry Porter

“I was very pleased with the win, happy to eliminate that two game skid, and get that off of our back. I thought our guys came out and really did a good job for the most part. The areas of concern are rebounding; they allowed those guys to get 17 offensive rebounds, and again turnovers.

"We had some guys step for us tonight, Grant was awesome off the bench for us tonight, and really had a good rhythm. Boris was good off the bench for us and has been great the last three or four games, really been solid off the bench. Shaq again, had 19 points and 17 boards and he’s really just doing a great job. Everybody contributed, Raja and Matt struggled early in the first half and their shots wouldn’t go down, but they hung in there and they both made some big shots when we needed them. It was good to see those shots go down for those guys.

"All in all, I was pleased with the win; we shot a high percentage. They shot 90 shots, but a lot of that was because of second chance points. We did a good job again in the paint; I thought we did a good job again in the paint. It’s always key for us to establish our paint, and we got 44 points. The only concern has been turnovers and offensive rebounds. It was important for us to get this one at home.”

(On what changed in the second half and allowed the suns to score 61 points)
“When we don’t turn it over, we don’t allow our opponents to get easy baskets, and in this league, turnovers lead to easy baskets for opponents. It gives our guys a chance; Shaq has been great all year at getting the ball in the post. When they double, kicking it out, and our guys have just been in a position to knock down shots. We did a much better job in third quarter at not turning the ball over as much at critical times. I just thought our offense was solid in the second half altogether, 31 and 30 points is pretty good to finish out the second half.”

Suns center Shaquille O'Neal

(On the big third quarter)
“We still have to take care of the ball – we’re still turning the ball over and are really careless with the ball. Once we master that we’ll be a little bit better. We play well in spurts and we just have to pick it up all around. We’ll be alright.”

(On whether he was looking forward to matching up with Greg Oden)
“It never is because I’m the shogun. And before you get to the shogun, you’ve got to go through a lot of ninjas. He has to go through Dwight Howard and Yao Ming and by that time, I’ll be out of here.”

Suns center Amar'e Stoudemire

(On the big third quarter)
“We came out strong and we wanted to set the tone early in the third. I took it upon myself to crash the boards and Shaq did a phenomenal job out there on the rebounds and we played as hard as we could. We definitely wanted to bring that defensive intensity out there and get the win.”

(On what he thinks when he sees Shaq jump into the crowd)
“I wouldn’t blink. Once he took off, three rows behind him – I didn’t know what was going to happen. That’s Shaq – he’s always hustling and he’s always playing hard.” (On the importance of the game) “We’re 9-5 now and we wanted to come out and get this win. We have two games coming up and we just have to keep going and keep getting better.”

Trail Blazers Head Coach Nate McMillan

“There was not a lot of movement in the first half, basically one pass and a shot as opposed to when we got some movement and we got in to our pick and roles. We made them defend a little bit. We had even better looks that put us in a rhythm. We were shooting 38 percent so we got 90 attempts tonight and if they are going to give you opportunities we have to knock them down.”

(On Shaq’s performance)
“He does what Shaq does which is establish the post. He was down there deep and was able to score, making some plays by kicking it out. They guy is Nash, he is still orchestrating that offense getting everyone involved and knowing the situations, he is probably as good as I have seen as far as knowing where to go with the ball and what to do. We go up 59-58 and he settles that team down and gets the ball where in needs to go. That guys is a two time MVP. Shaq some did some good things, they all did some good things, but that show runs with Nash.”

Trail Blazers guard  Brandon Roy

“They just shot the ball better than we did today. We got more attempts and shot the ball poorly, they went on one or two more runs than we did. Besides shooting we shoot the ball much better than that it was just a bad shooting night for us.”

(On current losing streak in Phoenix)
“Honestly it is just one more loss right now. I do not even look at the big streak because we haven’t beat any of the good teams on the road. For me it is just that and not on how many times Phoenix has beat us. We need to put it behind us and we have two games at our building that we need to pick up. It is tough because we played them each time on back to backs, so it is the fourth game in five nights for us. That played some of a role in the game, but no excuses they do a good job of going out and being a better team when they play us.”

Trail Blazers guard  Steve Blake

“We competed hard tonight. The first half the shots just were not falling, so we got down and made a run in the third quarter, but they did a good job with making shots when it mattered.” (On shooting the ball better in second half) “I just started making them really. I was feeling good and feeling confident because when you are missing you have to stay focused and once you see one go through it triggers you to make some more.”
