 | Suns Head Coach Terry Porter
“I’m disappointed about the loss obviously; for the most part we just couldn’t make plays at both ends of the floor when we needed them. Offensively, they made a run at us at the start of the third when we were trying to get back in the game. In 4 or 5 possessions we missed 5 or 6 straight shots and they came down and made a couple of three’s, and got a couple of lose balls which was disappointing because we didn’t get a chance to chase those down. We just didn’t do a good enough job, in the areas we needed to to win tonight. Give them credit. I thought Raja did a great job on Kobe, He goes 8 for 23 and the other guys step. That is what has made those guys good this year, the bench really came in and stepped up for them tonight.”
(Matt Barnes defense on Vladimir Radmanovic)
“We talked about him, he came into this game struggling a little bit. When you have a three point shooter like that, you want to make him put the ball on the floor. We didn’t do a job of recognizing that, recognizing personnel; who to close out quick to and who to not close out quick to. We paid the price for that tonight, which hurt us and got him into a rhythm. He hit some timely three’s when we were trying to make a push.”
(On committing turnovers and not creating turnovers)
“We have to really take a long look at our turnovers; that’s something we have to get under control. We have been fighting that since day 1, we just have to solve that problem. We can’t go into games giving up 20 points (off of turnovers) and expect to win against quality teams, playoff caliber teams. We have to do a much better job of keeping those under 13 or 12. In this league when ever you turn it over, bad shots, bad turnovers turns to easy baskets and you just can’t afford to do that. They scored 105 points and 21 of them were off turnovers, things that we can control. We have to do a much better job in that area.”

(On turnovers)
“We’re still having a turnover problem. (The Lakers) are a pretty good team and they capitalized on our mistakes – they got a lot of shots. They had a little more energy than we did and it’s just something we have to learn from this game and just try to pick it up and move on.”
(On why the offense has slumped recently)
“We just have to hit the shots. We’re not really shooting the ball well. When the jumpers aren’t falling you’ve just got to put it on the floor and take it to the floor and just mix it up a little bit. We just have to fight back and keep it going.”

 | Suns center Amare Stoudemire
“I think we started off strong. We were attacked early and we didn’t shoot the ball particularly well tonight, but we played fairly well. The Lakers just did a solid job of executing. We could have done a better job defensively on some plays, but we gave our effort. A few letdowns here and there, a few tough shots by the Lakers, and that’s the ballgame.” |

 | Suns guard Steve Nash
“I thought out effort was pretty good. They played well, they made shots and a lot of rebounds bounced right to them. We’re just still a work in progress and we’re still trying to get better and tonight was an indication that we have a ways to go.” |

(On Vladimir Radmanovic’s performance)
“Makes a big difference. Tonight changed his game around.”
(On tonight’s game)
“Defensively, we were pretty good, but I thought the Suns missed a lot of easy shots tonight and we got away with it.”
(On the Lakers’ defense tonight)
“I think this is okay, but even saying it’s okay – there’s still some shots that the Suns missed that change games because they give you fast break opportunities.”
(On tonight’s victory)
“It’s a nice victory for us tonight. It’s an early season victory, in-conference, in-division. Now we’ve got to go back and make sure this back-to-back is a success.”

(On Lakers defense was key to a victory tonight)
“I guess it was good defense. They struggled all four quarters, but we held an opponent to 42 or 42 percent from the floor. Whenever you do that, you have a great chance of winning.”
(On the Lakers’ many weapons)
“Vladi (Radmanovic) came out tonight and didn’t miss. That gave us a big boost. When a guy can hit four straight threes, that’s 12 points.”

(On the defense on Shaquille O’Neal and Amar’e Stoudemire)
“Our bigs got in trouble a little bit, but we knew we needed to help them out. We did the best we could to keep them out of the paint.”
(On Lamar Odom’s defense on Amar’e Stoudemire)
“Lamar did a great job on Amar’e Stoudemire. He didn’t let him get to where he wanted to go, and if he can do that, he can do anything. We did a good job tonight.”
(On tonight’s victory being a confidence builder)
“It’s definitely a confidence builder against a team like (the Suns) because they are a really good team and we are on the road. We need to come back tomorrow and try to get a win at home.”
