Suns Head Coach Terry Porter

“The bench really stepped up for them tonight, 59 points and 23 rebounds. We just didn’t play. Anything hustle wise, as far as getting loose balls, balls going on the floor, we didn’t get any of them. They were the aggressors all night, got to the free throw line a lot and our guys got in foul trouble in the first half. Just didn’t do a good enough job.

“We just weren’t as sharp as we needed to be tonight and we had stretches where we were in the game and we just did not do a good enough job at both ends of the floor. Executing our stuff offensively and then defensively, we just had too many breakdowns.”

(On the Jazz fourth quarter run)
“We just didn’t show a lot of poise on that stretch. They were getting deflections, getting steals and give them a lot of credit. We just didn’t execute at all what we wanted to get executed.”

Suns guard Steve Nash

“They played really well, you’ve got to give them a lot of credit. They got a lot of fast break points. We didn’t have any energy, our defense was late, we were a step behind on our rotations, we weren’t active, and we didn’t deserve it.”

(On the fourth quarter)
“We never had the sense that we were going to get back over the top. We missed a lot of shots, had a lot of indecision and didn’t really play together.”

Suns center Amar'e Stoudemire

“We were down at halftime, but we did fight all night and we gave it our best effort. They got us on a few plays and the momentum shifted in the fourth quarter and it’s hard to stop them when that happens.”

(On playing in Utah)
“The crowd definitely got behind them, which is great, it is part of the reason they have a team here in Utah. The fans here are phenomenal.”

Suns center Shaquille O’Neal

“They worked a little harder than we did tonight and that’s why they won. It’s tough to come into this building and play, and they just worked harder than we did. They were quicker to the ball, quicker to the board, they got all of the breaks, so we just have to suck this one up because we have another good team which we play on Thursday and we got to get ready for that.”

Jazz Head Coach Jerry Sloan

“Our bench was terrific. They gave us a tremendous lift … Andrei Kirilenko, Paul Millsap, Brevin Knight and even Matt Harpring.

“It was a great win for us after going through what we’d gone through in the last week or so. But we hadn’t played hard. Hadn’t played as hard as you’re supposed to play … I thought our guys wanted a win really bad.

"It was the hardest we’ve played (this season). Everybody was playing hard for the most part.”

(On playing without a center for portions of the game)
“You should be able to do that (play without a center on the floor) about anytime if guys are willing to help each other. Andrei seems to be, in that situation, able to block more shots.

“Our guys sometimes think they want to get a couple autographs and see if that helps them. That’s not good enough. You’ve got learn to compete.”

Jazz forward Carlos Boozer

“We had big hearts tonight, everybody came in and took pride in what we were doing out there. That’s how we got back into it and by the end of the third quarter we had a six-point lead. After being down that shows a lot of character for us, especially after being on a tough road trip. Guys came in ready to go, we looked great out there. There were moments when we looked fantastic, so hopefully we can take this momentum and ride out the rest of this week.”

(On the blocked shots by Paul Millsap and Andrei Kirilenko on Shaquille O’Neal)
“Paul started it off; Paul got that block on that dunk to start it off and it got kick started. AK came over and seemed like he got about three (blocks) in, like, 10 seconds. We did a great job in the fourth quarter. It feels really good to finish off a team; you know it’s been a long time since we finished a team off in the fourth quarter, and I pat all my teammates’ backs. They did a great job.”

Jazz guard CJ Miles

“I had the dunk, which was my first basket -- I ran the floor and got loose. Then I got fouled and had two free throws. Those are the two easiest shots you can get and after that I felt like I couldn’t miss a shot. Had another look at a three in a zone and after that, it was like, ‘If I get a look, it’s going down. It’s going up in any space if I can get a look.’“
