Suns Head Coach Terry Porter

(On pulling out the tough win)
“It was entertaining for the fans. They got their money’s worth tonight. We did not execute down the stretch. Guys missed some shots and turned the ball over. I give our guys credit to come in here and get a win short-handed. They grinded it out and did what they had to do.”

(On Shaquille O’Neal and Grant Hill leading the way)
“Shaq carried us. He did a great job of distributing the ball in the paint. We started going to Grant to give Shaq a rest. He made some big shots for us. Then Amare (Stoudemire) was able to find a rhythm and help us get the win. We had some guys who played a lot of minutes, but they did a good job.”

(On Goran Dragic’s first start)
“I thought he did good. He looked like he got a little tired down the stretch. He got a lot of minutes and I thought he played decent.”

Suns center Shaquille O'Neal (29 PTS, 13 REBS)

(On winning without Steve Nash and Matt Barnes)
“We were short-handed. I got more shots than I usually take. I just try to do what I do. We wanted to go inside outside. I was trying to set up my guys. We had too many turnovers and were messing around and almost gave the game away. We need to take care of the ball.”

(On coming back to Sacramento after a long layoff)
“I did not know that. It is not as fun as it used to be. Back in the day when we had the rivalry going, it was much louder and we had the guy with the cowbell going. Come back guy with the cowbell.”

Suns guard Goran Dragic (5 PTS, 4 ASTS)

(On playing against fellow Slovenian Beno Udrih)
“It was really good. Beno is a great player. It was really tough to guard him. They play a lot of pick-and-roll. We always go under, but he penetrates or kicks out to (Brad) Miller. It is difficult, but I am glad we won the game.”

Kings Head Coach Reggie Theus

“Well, we started the game off really not rebounding. In the first half, we had 13 rebounds and (Phoenix) had 26. I thought that got us off and out of our game in general, but we fought back. We fought back and played hard and gave ourselves a chance. We had shots at the end of the game (and) we had free-throw opportunities. We just didn’t get it done down the stretch, and that’s just the way it goes. I think we obviously can play better than that, but we did what we had to do to put ourselves in position to win the game. We just didn’t get it done. I thought we played very well; I thought we played very much under control and did what we had to do. When it came down to it, Amar'e (Stoudemire) made plays down the stretch.”

“There are a lot of things that can happen under those circumstances, you just have to pick plays, that’s all. At the end of the game, the team that makes the plays wins in a game like this. We fought very hard though; we played very hard. For as many things that I thought went wrong in the first half, we sure corrected them in the second half.”

Kings guard Quincy Douby (8 PTS, 2 BKS)

“Toward the end, my leg felt kind of heavy and I couldn’t shoot as consistently as I wanted. It still hurts a little bit but I can play through the pain. It’s not too severe. It’s just going to keep getting stronger the more I play on it.”

“Coach designed the play for Beno and I came off the flare. Beno came out of the first flare and if he didn’t see Beno I was coming off the second. They gave it to me and I was so open. The shot looked good but it was just short.”

“It’s a learning experience but it definitely hurts. It bothered me that I didn’t make it because I’m capable of making it. Hopefully next game I will get the same opportunity and I am going to try and do a little better.”

Kings center Spencer Hawes (14 PTS, 10 REBS)

“I think it was 15 to 9. They were just killing us and really they got so many offensive rebounds. As much as we like to run and get our offense that way it really took us out of it. Reggie was not happy at halftime. We had a better effort in that aspect and cleaning that up was a key to getting back in the second half.”

“I think that we put up a fight, especially dealing with the different personnel on the floor. Q (Quincy Douby) coming in and playing so well after everything that he’s gone through with his ankle. That shows a lot. I think it shows the fight in this team. Even though the end result was not a victory, I think we can take a lot of positive out of it and head forward.”

“I have to give credit to Shaq. He had three shots in overtime and made tough shots. I thought I was going to get a piece of some of them. Like I said, kudos to him though. He made them and made a couple of great plays on defense. Maybe I should go and introduce myself.”
