Suns Head Coach Mike D'Antoni

(On the team’s performance): “A good effort. Obviously if we shoot that well then it’s easy. But we also got to win games when we don’t play as well offensively but a lot of guys contributed and I thought on the defensive end we played well. A lot of good things and we just have to keep going forward and keep building and keep playing the way we play.”

(On the state of the team): “I thought we turned the corner four of five games ago. I thought we’re coming, we’re coming, but obviously Saturday night’s game was a heartbreaker but you have to give other teams credit too. The West is tough, its not going to all be smooth sailing and 60 wins every year. You just can’t do it. We are just going to slug it out and try to win our division and get the best seed we can get.”

Suns guard Marcus Banks

(On tonight’s performance): “Basically whatever the team needs me to do. One night I can come out and go to the basket, whatever these guys need me to do it’s my job to come off the bench and give this team energy. If it’s a defensive night and I have an assignment to do I’m going to get it done.”

(On Steve Kerr’s lecture this morning): “I think it was more motivation, and he came in at the right time and it showed tonight.”

(On performance leading to more opportunities): “You know what, I hope so. The only thing I can do is to sit over there and wait until my name is called. When it comes I’m going to go 110% and give them my all and just take care of business out there.”

Suns center Amare Stoudemire

(On the win): “We definitely wanted this win. It was definitely important to us. It is a win that is going to get us back on a great track, and we feel great about it and just want to continue to get wins.”

(On Marcus Banks’ performance): “That was huge. Marcus played phenomenal out there with guarding Allen Iverson and also shooting the ball well from deep. That is something that we need and it was a spark.”

(On being a playoff team): “We know we can do it. We beat playoff teams, like tonight we beat Denver and we beat the Spurs already. They are some of the top teams in the league. We’re not really concerned what the hype is or what the hype isn’t. Our thing is to just continue to get better and grow as a unit.”

(On the win): “I think it was needed. A big win for us is always key. It gets us going, it always gets us going. Anytime we get a big win we just ride it together and go from there.”

Nuggets Head Coach George Karl

“It was a bad timing game. They had a bad loss and obviously they’re disappointed with how they’ve been playing and they came out with a professional attitude to improve and show their pride and generally you can’t give a team 15 straight baskets at the beginning of a game on the road against one of the top five teams in the NBA. The hole was way, way too deep and anytime that we kind of got a spurt or a little edge, they’d make a 3 or make an easy basket or score on a turnover. You can’t play a perfect game when you have a hole that big and the mistakes are very difficult to overcome. Shawn Marion’s 3s were probably within the concept of the game plan. We were trying to cover the paint with the two bigs but we switched that up with about 5 minutes to go in the second quarter. I don’t think we expect Marcus Banks to make 7 out of 8. They got happy and they got cocky and they rubbed our faces in the game a little bit. It’ll be fun the next time we play them."

Nuggets guard Allen Iverson

“I was surprised and I’m pretty sure it surprised everybody the way they were shooting. They were just better than us tonight. It was a simple as that. There isn’t a whole lot to say. They were hot and they kept getting the ball to the guys making the shots. They just played an excellent game. We play them again. My whole thing is if we get the opportunity, we won’t try to show them up or anything like that. We’re just looking forward to playing them again.”

Nuggets center Marcus Camby

“They were hot the whole game. They came out and jumped on us and played with a comfortable lead the whole night. They’re a great team, especially a great team at home. He (Banks) hit those shots, but they were already up 17, 18 points. I don’t think his 2s were really a factor in getting the lead, but his 3s were a factor in maintaining the lead.”
