(On Suns turning into a defensive team)
“Yeah, that’s right. And you know, we’re better and I joke around a little bit but we’re not bad. Our offence has sputtered in the last two weeks, so if we just keep that intensity on defense, keep the rotations, the rotations were better tonight as we got different guys in there a lot more like Boris and LB (Barbosa) off the bench and Brian did a great job and we continued with that. Obviously this is a big win for us and it gets us out of our little funk as we gotta tough one night after tomorrow. So it’s a good win to take home with us.”

(On Tim’s performance in the first half)
“We were doing the ole ‘rope-a-dope,’ we were trying to get him tired as he was scoring so much. It wasn’t nothing, again, I don’t want to take away too much because he’s just coming off an injury, but I thought we did a better job on him. I thought Boris did a pretty good job, Amare picked it up a bit, Brian Skinner came in and was able to muscle him around a bit, and Grant Hill came up with the big block at the end. It was just different guys contributing at different times and we’re a deep team although we don’t play a lot of guys but those that play are really, really talented.”

(On Amare’s performance)
“Amare played well. He had a couple nice dunks at the end obviously and some clutch free throws and Amare did what he’s supposed to do and we got to give him help, as we brought in Skinner, Sean and Boris did that.”

(On Boris’ performance)
“Boris played well, I thought he played well the whole night. They went small and we have to be able to hurt them with Boris as the four position and he did that; especially in the first half. He got us a lot of shots, we didn’t make a lot of those three point shots that he gave us, but if we started knocking those down then it would’ve been a lot better, but I thought Boris the whole game kept pressure on them and was active and did his job, and he did a great job. ”

“Tonight I didn’t have any concern about our team’s effort. We knew the Spurs would be ready to play and we knew we would have to match their level of basketball. The Spurs are a professional team and they are a great team. Just because Tony Parker is out right now doesn’t mean we can let our guard down.”

“Tim really got things moving tonight. We tried to throw different looks at him but he’s the best and when he’s on his game all you can do is play your best.”

“We were able to take our time tonight and run Suns offense. The fact that we were able to maintain and run our offense is a great sign of things to come. Tonight’s game down to possessions and scoring point with every possession.”

“A win is a win it doesn’t matter if it’s the Spurs or any other team.”

“We did not shoot well from the three; they deserve some credit for that. They closed out well; they contested our three very very well. They did a good job.”

“That’s why we got him. He runs the show really well. The team reacts to him nicely, he’s real important to us.”

“We ran it for Manu to go to the basket and try to find Timmy. Grant Hill did a good job of cutting Manu off and you have to hit the guy who’s open. I probably would of liked if Bruce would of pumped that and drive it, but in the heat of battle you have an open three you take it.”

“Three point shooting wise, tonight was awful. What were we, 20%? But that is going to happen from time to time. It hasn’t been that way lately. Even still, it was good opportunity to win a good offensive team that we held to under 100 points. So that’s something you can take out of this one.”

“I’d rather have less points than that and have a win. Especially here at home. But it is what it is. Sometimes the breaks just don’t go your way.”

“Of course we miss Tony Parker. He’s one of our best players. We miss him offensively and for the way he attacks and breaks people down. You never know how having him out there and having those things available to us would have changed things tonight.”

“We did a great job in a lot of areas tonight but were lacking in a few others. That what the tape will show us in the next few days. We understood coming in that they are a great offensive team and that playing defense in transition is important against them. We didn’t do as good a job with that in the first half as we did in the second. Even still we had a chance to win it at the end and we’ll take a chance like that anytime.”
