The Phoenix Suns and Qwest Communications have partnered to launch the 2nd Annual “Team Assist” program, a community outreach initiative designed to provide new basketball equipment to two Arizona high school varsity basketball programs.

High school varsity basketball players and coaches, along with teachers and parents throughout Arizona, are encouraged to log on to to nominate their team.

Entry forms must be submitted by Sunday, November 21 and will be judged on their school’s need for new equipment.

Two high schools will be selected as recipients of a $5,000 donation, courtesy of Qwest Communications, to be utilized for the equipment outlined in their proposals.

The donation will be distributed evenly between the boys and girls programs at each high school.

“Qwest shares the Sun’s commitment and passion to Arizona’s educational system so that we can grow Arizona’s workforce from within our own borders,” said Jim Campbell, Qwest President for Arizona. “This program, along with our Teachers and Technology grants, where Qwest will donate $100,000 to local schools for the fifth consecutive year, is just another example of Qwest employees giving back to the communities where we work and live.”

In addition to the $5,000 donation, the Suns will host both high school basketball programs at a Suns home game during the 2010-11 season.

Get to the game on Friday, October 29 when your Phoenix Suns tip-off the 2010-11 regular season at home against the Los Angeles Lakers. Fantastic seats for single games are still available. Purchase your tickets at or by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX.
