It’s a great win for us. These guys have had some great wins here and on the road. To come in and be able to win in this arena is just a great win for us. They have a lot of great young players, Paul George and Granger (Danny). I told someone today that I’m amazed as to where Roy Hibbert has come. Where he started and where he is now…I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that much improvement in one, two or even three years in the league. We did a good job defensively in the second half. We didn’t come up with a lot of the 50 – 50 balls in the first half. But I did think we came up with some defensive stops. We were fumbling the ball and they would end up coming up with it. But I think we did a good job dealing with that in the second half. We have to step to the line and make the free throws. I think that would have taken care of business. If we were going to lose we were going to try to lose on a great play, like George (Paul) almost made. We weren’t going to let them shoot a three. I think the percentages are not good that they can miss a free throw and come up with it and put it back in the basket. We played a really good second half against a quality team. Coach Vogel has done a great job with these guys and they’re a tough team.

(On the second half) I thought we were a lot grittier and played with more energy and came up with more loose balls. (On the importance of the win) A huge win for us. We got some good feelings back. We got some confidence back. We have a big game in Cleveland that we have to try to win.

It really was (an important win). We had a tough stretch in Florida against two very good teams. And Indiana is a very good team. But we just got back to playing good basketball. We didn’t defend as well as we’d like, but we executed. Our second unit was wonderful. We made and missed some free throws down the stretch, but we ultimately did what we had to do to get the win. (On the difference in the third and fourth quarters) I think what we did was shore up some things defensively. We got on a little bit of a run and got some stops. We managed to take the lead and got into a rhythm in the third quarter, and it carried over to the fourth quarter.
|Pacers Head Coach Frank Vogel|
A tough loss but I’m proud of the way we competed. I thought we outplayed the Suns for three quarters but the game was lost in the third quarter when we had a lull there. (On Steve Nash) He just set guys up left and right. (On the Suns) They’re playing really good basketball, playing at a really high level. (On Roy Hibbert) He’s playing good basketball. He’s a heck of a player and helps us so many ways aside from scoring.

We must stop this playing catch up. You cannot do that in the NBA especially with back to back games and having to play hard all the time. Tempo was a problem tonight. They controlled the tempo. We’ve got to start holding each other accountable for what we do and don’t do and communicate, help each other out.”
|Pacers Center Roy Hibbert|
We let Steve Nash control the tempo of the game. They’re a very good team, a very talented team. And we did not do a very good job of controlling them. (On his game) I am still a work in progress and need to keep working on a lot of things to get my game to the point where I can help my teammates, night in and night out. Right now I think all I need and maybe all we need is a little rest. But we can’t count on that with these next two ball games.
