Western Conference Playoff Picture

With the 2009-10 regular season wrapping up tonight, clarity was finally achieved in the Western Conference standings. After defeating the Jazz on the road, the Suns locked up the No. 3 seed and will face the Blazers, who wrapped up the sixth seed after the Spurs lost to the Mavs. With Dallas winning, the Mavs secured the No. 2 seed and will have home court when they face the seventh-seeded Spurs. The Nuggets will hold on to the No. 4 seed while the Jazz, who had a shot at the No. 2 seed entering tonight, lost home-court advantage and fell all the way to the No. 5 seed.

Suns Record:
54-28

The Skinny: The Suns finished in third place in the West after routing the Jazz in Utah. They face the sixth-seeded Blazers in the first round of the playoffs.

Mavs Record:
55-27

The Skinny: The Mavs clinched the second seed after defeating the Spurs, which ironically, will be the exact team they face in the first round of the playoffs.

Nuggets Record:
53-29

The Skinny: The Nuggets claimed fourth place in the West despite concluding their season with a loss in Phoenix. Although they have the same record as the Jazz, they earned the No. 4 seed by way of a tiebreaker.

Jazz Record:
53-29

The Skinny: After losing to the Suns on Wednesday, the Jazz fell to fifth place in the West, losing their shot at home-court advantage. They'll face the Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.
