BEST GAME OF THE SEASON
Jan. 19 vs. Denver. Facing a high-energy power forward in Kenneth Faried, Frye flipped the script with a truly “Manimal”-istic performance. The veteran forward shot a blistering 12-of-16 from the field on the way to 30 points and added five rebounds, three blocks and a steal for good measure.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR
Fine-tune his conditioning after needing to establish it on the fly this season due to missing the 2012-13 campaign with an enlarged heart.
Frye’s comeback from his season-long absence has been justly labeled inspiring and impressive. He was the first to admit, however, that once it was no longer an issue, he didn’t want the episode used as a crutch for how he played.
That’s encouraging from the eight-year veteran, who could also make more appearances in the post. In that area, Frye shot an impressive 68.8 percent on hook shots this season (per NBA.com stats).
HEARD FROM HORNACEK
“He’s a great shoot-around that can help us spread the floor. Once you look around the league, there’s a lot of those spread-floor guys. With us trying to push the ball in the open court, if he’s a trail guy and he’s wide open, you pretty much know that ball’s going in.”
