Suns to Host Open Practice October 20
Fans will receive their first public opportunity to catch a glimpse of the 2012-13 Phoenix Suns when the team hosts their annual open practice on Saturday, October 20 at US Airways Center. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and is open to the public free of charge.
In honor of the Suns home opener on Halloween night, the team is encouraging fans to donate new or gently-used Halloween costumes, benefiting the children at New Pathways for Youth, formally known as Phoenix Youth at Risk. Fans who donate will be entered into a raffle to win autographed Suns items.
The event will tip-off with entertainment by The Gorilla, Suns Dancers, Verve Sol Patrol and Solar Squad, and will be highlighted by a team scrimmage conducted by head coach, Alvin Gentry beginning at 11:30 a.m. The open practice will feature returning Suns stars Jared Dudley and Markieff Morris, along with newcomers Michael Beasley and Luis Scola, and 2012 first-round pick, Kendall Marshall.
Immediately following the practice, select Suns fans will have the opportunity to interact with the players on the main court by doing a variety of skill challenges and exercises. Fans of all ages will be selected to participate.
The Phoenix Suns will open the 2012-13 regular season against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, October 31 in the team’s Home Opener at US Airways Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased at Suns.com/tickets or by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX.
