Two-time NBA MVP and Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash launches a mobile giving campaign to benefit Educare Arizona, a platform of the Steve Nash Foundation. The Phoenix Suns designated Friday, February 4 “Educare – Early Learning Night at the Phoenix Suns,” while Nash and the home team matchup against Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Starting today, US cell phone users can make a $10 donation to the Steve Nash Foundation in its support of Educare Arizona by texting NASH to 20-222.* Fans who participate by donating or simply registering their information at www.SteveNash.org, between now and midnight (MST) on February 5, have a shot at winning Nash’s game-worn shoes from the evening’s matchup between Suns and Thunder.

“I’m really excited to make it even easier to assist such a critical cause,” said Steve Nash. There is no more basic need, no more important work than ensuring that every child can access high-quality educational opportunities. Educare Arizona will help individual children and families, but it also helps our communities because of the impact this kind of program has. This is such a simple way to be a part of it.”

Early Head Start and Head Start Families, children and families from the Balsz School District and Educare community stakeholders and supporters will attend the February 4 game. Oklahoma City’s own Educare school opened in July 2009, and serves 200 at-risk children and their families.

Donations are tax deductible and are billed automatically through the donor’s phone bill. Messaging and data rates may apply. The Steve Nash Foundation’s text giving program is certified by the Mobile Giving Foundation and is administered through Give by Cell. The game-worn sneaker winner will be contacted via cell. All entries agree to opt-in to receive the notification call. The Give by Cell program is only available in the United States.
