The Marketing and Media Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating a variety of marketing initiatives to include media planning and buying, and sales promotions for the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and US Airways Center events, ensuring their implementation and success. He or she will report to the Senior Director of Marketing.
Maximize impact of advertising campaigns by planning and buying all media through review of marketing objectives for the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and US Airways Center events.
Combine creative thinking and factual analysis to develop appropriate media strategies for varying ticket sales products and partner retail programs. Collaborate directly with the Suns Marketing Manager, Mercury Director of Marketing and Arena Marketing Manager in developing comprehensive media plans.
Distribute RFP’s to media vendors and work directly with them to obtain best pricing and placement for media buys. Negotiate added value and promotional plans as part of each paid placement. Purchase local and national print, radio, television, outdoor and non-traditional media.
Develop digital media plan recommendations, based on integrated communication planning processes. Ensure ideal synergy between traditional and digital advertising platforms. Negotiate and buy approved digital media plan programs. Develop success metrics/measurement goals for all digital programs. Report on and optimize digital programs on an ongoing basis.
Track, manage and measure media plans via media flowcharts and planning grid. Traffic and steward all media placements to ensure everything ran as ordered.
Manage all media partnerships to include print, radio, television, outdoor, interactive and other non-traditional media channels.
Coordinate and execute radio station logistics and on-site activities for remotes associated with Suns, Mercury and arena events.
Help manage the gameday premium giveaway process by working directly with vendors to coordinate pricing, timing, delivery and element selection.
Work with public relations department to distribute premium products to radio and television stations to help garner exposure for the giveaway item and to increase ticket sales.
Assist with the planning and execution of special event programming, including but not limited to the annual NBA draft party, open practices, Suns sales events, season ticket holder open houses and select-a-seat events, plus US Airways Center events.
Help manage the department budget by recording and filing all invoices.
Skills or Characteristics:
Minimum of three years experience in traditional media buying experience with the ability to show a strong ROI, plus digital media planning and buying experience preferred.
Success in planning, buying, and placing media strategies. Established relationships with promoters, publishers and media sales representatives.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) communication skills are preferred, but not required.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, organizational and negotiating skills; creative conceptualization.
Extremely well-organized with the ability to multi-task effectively handling multiple projects and working under extremely tight deadlines.
Ability to effectively utilize media research and reporting resources.
A strong work ethic with the ability to work with equally strong personalities.
A proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
The Marketing and Media Coordinator will have earned a minimum of an undergraduate college degree and possess three years of media buying, marketing, promotions and/or program management experience.
