The Suns signed guard
Randy Livingston
for the rest of the season today. In addition, Phoenix released guard Alvin Sims to keep the active roster at 12 players.
A 6-5, 209-pound guard, Livingston has played 76 games in the NBA with Houston and Atlanta. This season, he was in the Miami Heat training camp but was one of the team's last cuts.
He averaged 3.9 points and shot .437 from the field (.409 from three-point range) during 1996-97 with Houston and he played in two playoff games for the Rockets. Last season, he played in 12 games for the Hawks, scoring 10 points.
Livingston also played for Sioux Falls in the CBA this season, leading the Skyforce to the CBA Finals with a team-high 19.4 points on .452 from the field. He added 5.1 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. In Game 3 of the championship, he scored 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
During the regular season, he averaged 13.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists for the Skyforce and in the 1997-98 season in Sioux Falls, Livingston averaged 15.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.7 assists.
Sims played four games for the Suns since being signed on Apr. 28. He averaged 2.8 points and 6.3 minutes.
